“Great room, fantastic location and excellent hosts!”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Writing this on our last night at Martinique - what an amazing stay!

Everything from the style and character of the room to the happy and helpful hosts have made this such a wonderful holiday.

We've been in Port Douglas for a wedding, and we've seen the places our friends are staying at. We can happily say that we made the right choice.

Perfectly located - on Macrossan but not in the noisy centre, nights have been quiet but you're close enough to stroll to the restaurants and bars if you want that action. And the beach is a stone's throw away.

The room feels comfortable and has character. Love the tropical feeling! The bathroom is like a large wetroom which I initially thought was strange but after one shower I was sold! Our outside patio is great for relaxing (and drying those bathers) and feels secluded with the lush foliage. Same goes for the pool. The tropical trees make you feel like you're in a hidden lagoon.

Fred and Antonia always greet you with a smile - you can see how happy they are to entertain. And seeing Antonia change the tropical flowers near the entrance pond just makes you realise that it's the little things that add so much atmosphere.

I can't give Martinique enough praise. If you're interested in location without the havoc, a beach at your doorstep and warm, welcoming cheer, then Martinique on Macrossan is perfect for you - it has been for us,

Room Tip: We requested a ground floor for the patio and because there's no lift. Glad we did, it made comi...

My wife and I have stayed here twice now. Last November and just this May past. Both times we were attending sporting events located on 4 mile beach. The great location and wonderful interest in our activities by Fred & Antonio really make this place our first choice when we come to Port..Value for money is hard to beat. Thanks Fred & Antoni, we will be back.

Room Tip: Personally I like the higher level, but, you must like steps then and I do.

Great stay at Martinique for 6 nights. Our hosts were very helpful, and informative. Close to the beach and near restaurants. Quiet at night. There was music on lots of nights at the venues in Port Douglas.
So much to see and do in the area and the right place to be for boat trips and visits to the reef.
Supermarket just 1 block away. Room was comfortable as was the bed, enough space for suitcases and a small balcony to sit out as well. Hosts can book tours for you so no need to phone around or try to figure out which one would suit you the best.
We ate at some great restaurants in the area as well as the pubs and social clubs.
Fresh fish is always fantastic. Sunday market worth a visit too. Highly recommended to stay at.

Room Tip: Stairs to floors 1 and 2. However very quiet at night.

Very good accommodation and right on the main street. Very close to the beach and to restaurants in town. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that it is a bit dark inside. Stronger light globes would fix that as there is no room for more windows.

Great location but what happened to good old Aussie hospitality? No phone service into the room and the managers resented suggestions they need an automated phone service so guests can be contacted. Apartment kitchen not well set up. Downstairs unit was cramped and dark with no where to stow luggage. Managers unwelcoming to kids visiting with relatives. But did we mention great location? Probably better suits a short stay than a long stay, like our three weeks. And if you want to be contacted bring your mobile phone!

Room Tip: Downstairs rooms are shady but lovely sunny shared courtyard.

It is hard to understand why you have written ;this review seeing that you were not our guest but came to visit your parents a few times with your wife and two children. We were the people who drove your father to the doctor and to his fishing trip. Yes we are a non children complex and that is what we advertise everywhere. This is one of the reasons our guests enjoy the peaceful surrounding with boutique one bedroom apartments. Your parents had a great time and I have our visitors book to prove it. Your mother wrote 3/8/12 " Great accommodation and holiday made special by Fred and Antonia"

There are many things that make Martinique on Macrossan special but, for us, the best are Fred and Antonia, the owners!! They are so gracious and kind, you feel as if you've known them forever.
The location is perfect! It's located at the end of the shops and restaurants, and the beach is just steps the other way! Couldn't be a better location. The apartments are perfect! Clean, neat and have all you would want or need.
Fred and Antonia really took time to help us find what would be the best excursions for us. They had a sense of who we were and were spot on with which tour guide we would fit best with. They truly helped make our trip to Port Douglas a highlight of our Australian vacation!
When we go back, we would never consider staying anywhere else!

Perfect location on Macrossan, just up from main shops on Macrossan street, and the beach, so it's perfect for both quiet and convenience. Warm style and feel, nice friendly owners. We stayed for 3 nights and it was a lovely and convenient choice, the decor and feel of the hotel also suits the tropical locale. Great!

Room Tip: We stayed at the top floor, room 20 over the pool -lovely for views and feel, but 3 flights up, mayb...
