“good value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Every time when we drive up to Port Douglas from Cairns, we have Lunch at the Central Hotel. They have $ 12.50 specials and you can`t go wrong with that. Today we had the Grilled Barra which came with Fries, Tartar and Salad. The Portions are generous and for Port Douglas it`s very well priced.
You have to order and pay beforehand and Staff will bring it to your table.
It`s kind of a Sports bar with outdoor seating and big TV screens which shows different kind of Sport but with no sound.
It has a nice feel to it. You can relax and watch the people go past.

“Beware they cut their happy hour dinner food off 5mins early ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014 via mobile

Beer was cold and bar service was good. Food service. But they cut off the happy hour food 5 mins early. I show them my GPS Time on my phone....he pointed at a old wall clock and said " too bad mate "

“One of the worst burger I've ever had”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

Foe the most part, during our stay in Port Douglas, my wife and I were very happy with the quality of the food.
However, one night we decided to go for something casual and we stopped by the bar at the Central Hotel, to have a burger.

The setting is informal and it's a self-service kind of place where you order at the counter and they bring your food at the table when it's ready.

The Wagyu beef burger though, was very disappointing. I was expecting the patty to be soft nice and juicy, with just the right amount of fat that melts in your mouth, like it should be with wagyu beef. But it was not.

The meat turned out to be bland and the texture was off, with some hard bite to it, like they used some bad quality beef, like they used some scrapple to make the patty.

The bottom line is, for a A$16 dollar burger, you don't really get what you pay for.

“Great place for cold beer in the heat.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014

We did not eat here but popped in for a cold beer or two after a walk around the town. The bar is both bar and betting shop and food also seems to be served. Tourists like us mingle with the locals and other characters, so it has a real Aussie outback feel in the middle of the town as it sits on the main street. The beer, as you'd expect in Australia, is cold - refreshingly cold. There is no air conditioning - no need as the windows afford a good sea breeze.

“Tasty Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

A wide range of food available. Kids meals are big & filling, so kids are not asking for more food later on. We went between 5&6 pm and there was a deal on t-bone steak, barramundi and the kids meals. That is what attracted us most. My eldest had a souvlaki, this was not on the kids menu, it looked very tasty and she polished it off, saying it tasted nice. My husband had the t-bone, he liked it but he could have had a second, my other daughter had the kids cheeseburger, it was big and 'yummy'. I had the fisherman's basket. Loved it!!!! Their chips are also well cooked. Atmosphere is casual and quite relaxed. The beer garden is inviting. Unfortunately happy hour drinks don't really cater for the female palate, so I opted the vodka and lime which was on offer but mixed it with a lemon and lime bitter (not part of happy hour), to sweeten it up alot.
