“Great outlook but under seasoned food”

We stayed at the hotel that this restaurant is in so logical to give it a try. The outlook is fantastic at night as you over look the pool and with all its lights. They give the kids a colouring pack which is always a plus but the kids menu is the same as every where. Restaurants need to learn that kids do eat more than just spag Bol, pizza, nuggets and fish & chips. Anyway... We had the duck and pork belly with a few sides. Overall the food was very under seasoned. The duck was nice but a tad over cooked. I felt the pork belly just needed something extra and sitting it in sauce makes the skin go soggy which is never a good thing. The food could have been really good but it just missed the mark and was very expensive for what it was. The wait staff were excellent.

“A Good all rounder”

We stayed at peppers resort and had every intention of taking the walk to the Main Street each night to eat.

Due to the decent food and great service we ended up having every meal in our 3 night stay at Sublime restaurant!

“Wonderful breakfasts but worst dinner in FNQ to date”

The girlfriend and i were staying at peppers and felt lazy, so rather than venture into town for dinner we decided to have some drinks and dinner at the in-house restaurant.

The setting is reasonable, overlooking the beach style pool.

The service was average with the waiter being often quite short when i approached him to ask for drinks or a menu or request to order. He did however quickly became very polite when in proximity to my girlfriend.

The cocktails were nice and drinks were priced reasonably.

The girlfriend and myself eat out very often and enjoy good food in small to reasonable sized portions. We are not fans of pub grub or big serving sizes and we do not mind paying over $100 for the two of us to enjoy a quality meal.

We were not exceptionally hungry so decide to skip entree and head straight to mains with the intention of finishing with some dessert.

We both decided on the lamb with labnah, mint and artichokes for $32.

Despite there being only two other people in the restaurant at this stage it took an hour for our meals to come out.

When the meals came out the girlfriend and I were quietly shocked. Before us lay 4 small mouthfuls of lamb toped with (not drained) natural yogurt with a couple of artichoke halves accompanied by splashes of what looked and tasted like Worcestershire sauce. The portion size was pitiful. I immediately asked the waiter for some buttered greens ($9 extra) which turned out to be the nicest part of the meal. The lamb was cold and well done. The artichokes clashed with the other flavors and the sauce seemed as though it came straight out of the bottle.
All in all our meal tasted like a couple of mouthfuls of cold roast lamb that you would put on a sandwich the day after.

As much as I enjoy cold roast lamb. I am never going to pay $32 for it and if I was at least a cold roast lamb sandwich would be filling.

The girlfriend has a stomach the size of a egg and often struggles to finish even an entree. However this night she was close to licking the plate clean, not for the taste but for mere sustenance.

The buttered greens in the end saved the meal. The greens were perfectly cooked and not overly sauced.

The waiter knew our obvious disappointment from the moment he brought the meals out, and clearly avoided asking us how the meals were. To the point of being awkwardly silent when serving us from then on.

We decided against having dessert there and ventured into town anyway to seek a nice dessert.

That being said, its not all bad. We received a 15% discount on the meal because we were staying at the resort. And there are some very nice qualities of this restaurant the main one being the breakfast.

Our room came with complementary continental breakfast which we utilized each day. (If doesn't come with your room it's still reasonably priced)

The continental breakfast is one of the best I have had in a resort. It provided a good selection of cereals, fresh fruit, baked products and a expresso machine.

The hot breakfast menu was also good with the pancakes being simple but perfectly cooked and very enjoyable.

Unfortunately I am going to rate this review on the dinner and not the breakfast hence why I rate it as below average.

Certainly potential to improve, but unfortunately we will never risk dining here again for dinner to find out if they will.

“Nice setting poor food”

Ate here for dinner and overall am not impressed. Husband paid $38 for a steak that was 3/4 fat and not cooked medium rare as requested. I got gnocchi which tasted as if it came straight from a Latina packet. Asked for no goats cheese and it came out with goats cheese (could be excused if they were busy, but we were the only ones there!)
Very overpriced for what you get - at $90 for 2 mains and a diet coke. Much nicer places to eat in port Douglas in my opinion.

“Low quality food, good service, good drinks”

We ate here for our first night at peppers and got the degustation menu. The food was of a poor quality, particularly the lamb which was full of gristle and tough as old boots. On the upside, they do have good cocktails, the restaurant was lovely to sit in overlooking the pool, and the waiter was prompt and friendly, good experience if you don't have taste buds.
