What a pleasant surprise, the market is huge and diverse.

A large amount of variety from fruit to food, to nuts to bananas, to fruit and fruit-juices. Clothes, scarves, bags, paintings, prints and jewellery.

You name it the market had it.

A lovely and different market.

Highly recommended!

Enjoy!

Spent a couple of hours this morning at the Sunday Market on the beach opposite Salsa Restaurant. Stunning views, sunny weather, a large variety of stalls, friendly stall holders, what's not to love? Freshly squeezed cane sugar with a dash of lime, yum! Freshly squashed pineapple juice too, delicious. Also bought products from a friendly lady selling croc oil. Just opposite her stall was an even friendlier lady selling coconut crisps. Worth every cent. Definitely a must-do in Port,

The Port Douglas Sunday Market is located in the park next to the picturesque St Mary's Church off Wharf St. and there is no entry fee. While it's not the biggest market we've ever been to, it certainly had enough to look at and to buy! The weather on the day we visited was perfect so there were lots of stalls and lots of people. The fresh fruit and veggie stalls opposite the end of Macrossan St (main street) were popular but it was the variety of hand-made and hand-grown items that we enjoyed. We bought hand-made wooden kitchen utensils, locally grown tea and coffee beans, a kilo of locally caught fresh prawns (bring an esky/cooler bag), inexpensive pearl necklaces and pendant, greeting cards, pure cotton T-shirt, hand-dyed silk scarf, blocks of chocolate (60% local cocoa), crunchy coconut chips, macadamia nuts, 100% fruit icy poles etc.

There were several buskers and it was also entertaining watching the bicycle-powered sugar cane juicing machine where the rider had to juggle cycling while feeding the long canes into the machine. We enjoyed the market and it was a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.

Very good market, lots of stalls, only a few fresh fruit and veg stalls, and don't go expecting to get brekky, a good coffee you will find but not food stalls. You can easily stroll around for a few hours, best to get there early as it was very busy by late morning.
