“Spent a lovely morning day dreaming here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

A little local gem. Great just to daydream, catchup with friends. I tried a few coffee houses and thought this was the best coffee in town. The food is basic and really not inspiring but that was ok because I just came for a good coffee and sit amongst the lovely feel of the bookstore. Wonderful books and great children's toy/book area. worth visiting!! lovely staff too.

Catching up with friends over a coffee is one of life's pleasures and we are very happy you chose to spend your time at Whileaway. We have worked very hard but at the same time had a lot of fun creating our children's books and toys area and so it's great to hear you also enjoyed spending time looking at what is on offer. Hope you and your friends will join us again soon.

“Delightful Bookshop Cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

Very simple cafe but lovely service. Enjoyed a gluten-free Rhubarb and Almond Friand which was delicious. Fantastically curated selection of books and very well presented. Worth a look when in Port Douglas.

Thankyou for your wonderful comments, we are so glad you like our gluten free friand, it really is one of our most popular cakes, regardless of whether you need to eat gluten free or not. And the fact that you feel our books are well curated really is the icing on the cake for us, thanks again.

“Heavenly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2014

With bookshops becoming a thing of the past, it was wonderful to find such a well stocked shop and have the luxury of having a coffee while perusing the wondrous shelves. Wish there was something like this on the Gold Coast!

We often hear from our customers that they miss not having a local bookshop any more which is very sad. So It makes us very happy to be able to fulfil a great need for bricks and mortar bookshops, where you can immerse yourself in the wonderful experience of handling and browsing 'real' books and at the same time help support our local community by purchasing books locally, thankyou very much.

“Great idea different way to spend an hour while on holiday.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

This cafe/bookstore was a fantastic find in that I love books and book stores and it was great to find somewhere you could loiter at your own leisure flicking through books, the store also does some great recommendations. A lovely surprise in Port Douglas.

As a bookseller it's so rewarding to hear that you liked our recommendations. Quite a few of the staff and I manage to update our shelf talkers and reviews regularly as we really love to share good books with you, thankyou very much.

A week stretched ahead without the promise of our daily ‘fix’. That was, until we discovered Whileaway. We were bereft no more.
