“Loved the information, the nice boat and the yummy food”

I love being informed about what I'm going to see when I'm going out into a natural setting in a tour group. In this category, this snorkel cruise did not disappoint. The short presentation on things we could look out for, including cleaner fish, giant clams, reef sharks (not dangerous), turtles and so on, was great. And we saw all those things! The variety of coral on display was beautiful as well. Drew made everything easy to understand and remember, and his snorkel tour was extremely enjoyable. His beach walk and talk was informative as well (as he warned!). There was no pressure to go on the beach walk if you just wanted to chill out. I loved hearing about the different shells you can find and what sort of creatures inhabit them and some of their behavior. This cruise wasn't all information though. There was delicious food for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon dessert. Everyone was friendly.

My only complaint was in the area of sun safety. I've been on snorkel trips before, and the big danger is getting sunburned because the water can wash off your sunscreen during your swims. Reapplying during lunch is important! While I remembered to do so, some fellow cruisers did not. And you hate to see people with a burn on their back at the end of the day. It wouldn't be too hard for the crew to make a few more announcements as a friendly reminder to the tourists not used to the harsh Australian sun. Also, for the price of the cruise, having some waterproof sunscreen available as a top up, free of charge, to those running low on sunscreen would be appropriate.

Other than that one comment, we had an amazing day on the GBR on this cruise.

“Sunset and champagne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

We had a lovely evening on board this cat. Initially I was going to go with another company but saw The Aquarius sail past and the outdoor seating looked a lot more comfortable so we went with them.

We were offered canapes and were able to bring our own bottle(s) of bubbly to enjoy. The crew provided the esky and glasses.

To top it off the sunset was sublime.

“Excellent Low Isles Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2013

Having done a couple of great reef trips from Cairns, I was eager to visit another part of the reef while visiting Port Douglas. I decided the Low Isles was where I wanted to visit and the very small numbers allowed on this trip recommended by our accommodation sounded great.
The catamaran was really nice inside and out, crew were friendly and helpful. Drew our captain and snorkelling guide was really excellent. Plenty of nice food for lunch and they also had an esky for any BYO beers/wine. I took a few beers for the relaxing sail back to the marina.
I really enjoyed this trip for the small numbers on board and great snorkelling around the reefs at the Low Isles.

“A good trip out, good lunch, snacks and a friendly crew”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

Aquarius is a lovely boat and even though our tour was full we didn't feel crowded on board. Our big watch out is that the Low Isles are a very popular destination for day boats from Port Douglas and we were surprised at the number of people all in the same area, 3 large boats and one small boat (our guess is about 100 people). Having said that you can 'free snorkel' and find yourself some space.

We'd recommend the following if you are considering this tour -

* If you are in the area for a few days check out the water visibility before booking, on our trip the visibility was not great near the beach, this was partly due to the small motor boats shuttling back and forth with visitors and partly due to the weather the week before.
* If you are a less confident snorkeler or swimmer then this tour is a really good introduction. Our tour guide was great at making sure everyone felt comfortable with their snorkel gear.
* For snorkelling with fewer people we'd recommend taking the time to go up to Cape Tribulation as well, it’s only because we snorkelled at Cape Tribulation first that we’ve given this tour a lower rating, the reef off Cape Tribulation had much better visibility (though this could have been weather related) and far fewer people.

“Well worth the time and money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

Captain Andy and First Mate, Peggy, were gracious hosts from the time you embarked on our journey until the time error disembarked. We traveled to the Low Isles. The maximum number of people on the catamaran is 23 guests. You have an opportunity to not only meet folks, but a chance to talk one on one. The snorkeling in the Coral Sea by the reef was awesome. We never experience anything so cool. It certainly had the Caribbean and Hawaii beat. The food served at lunch was delicious and presented well. While we were out on a walk with Captain Andy, Peggy swam back to,the Aquarius and had lunch set up upon our return. It was a great day and well worth the cost for the small group experience.
