I love being informed about what I'm going to see when I'm going out into a natural setting in a tour group. In this category, this snorkel cruise did not disappoint. The short presentation on things we could look out for, including cleaner fish, giant clams, reef sharks (not dangerous), turtles and so on, was great. And we saw all those things! The variety of coral on display was beautiful as well. Drew made everything easy to understand and remember, and his snorkel tour was extremely enjoyable. His beach walk and talk was informative as well (as he warned!). There was no pressure to go on the beach walk if you just wanted to chill out. I loved hearing about the different shells you can find and what sort of creatures inhabit them and some of their behavior. This cruise wasn't all information though. There was delicious food for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon dessert. Everyone was friendly.
My only complaint was in the area of sun safety. I've been on snorkel trips before, and the big danger is getting sunburned because the water can wash off your sunscreen during your swims. Reapplying during lunch is important! While I remembered to do so, some fellow cruisers did not. And you hate to see people with a burn on their back at the end of the day. It wouldn't be too hard for the crew to make a few more announcements as a friendly reminder to the tourists not used to the harsh Australian sun. Also, for the price of the cruise, having some waterproof sunscreen available as a top up, free of charge, to those running low on sunscreen would be appropriate.
Other than that one comment, we had an amazing day on the GBR on this cruise.
