Being from Cairns any excuse to travel the 45 minutes to Port Douglas for the day is taken up with gusto. Usually we meet at the Tin Shed as it has spectacular views, a wonderful atmosphere and great food. Supplemented by great company what could go wrong???
We arrived at 12.30 to order lunch, I had a nephew visiting from down south so we thought that it would be a shortish lunch and we would do Hartley's on the way home... There were 3 couples. The first received their meal promptly and thought it was wonderful, the next couple took about another 20 minutes to receive theirs (they were having the fish and some garlic bread) Alas no word on our 3 lunches. The staff there were great and kept checking to see what was happening and kept being advised that it would be ready soon..... they only had 1 cook/chef catering to a full crowd, including a tour group of around 12 or so. More than and hour after ordering our meals we gave up waiting. The staff there were proactive and did advise the manager of the situation before we decided against staying, and then offered us complementary drinks, but we really did want to get to Hartley's before it closed we requested a refund instead and then went to Mockas for a pie...
Today was particularly disappointing as I am having my 50th in Port Douglas at the end of the year and up until today was going to discuss with the Tin Shed about the possibility of having it there, this has made us change our minds on the venue...shame!!
