Description: Harrisons Restaurant exists in a setting that is made for romance and fun. The colonial style house and colourful gardens create a wonderful atmosphere for cocktails, romantic dinners and celebratory events. Food is skillfully created using produce that is always fresh and preferrably local. Spencer Patrick, owner of Harrisons, has navigated Harrisons as an award winning restaurant since it's inception in 2007. Harrisons has consistently held national accolades for it's food and wine and stands alone as Port Douglas' only One Hat rated restaurant in the QLD Good Food Guide. Spencer's style draws from his training in classic French cuisine and love for all things English. His belief is that good food can be enjoyed any where in the world, but what better place to enjoy it than in Paradise!

We rate this as is the best restaurant in the region. This is the third year we have visited PD and dined at Harrison's. Each visit was equally enjoyable. The ambiance is romantic, the service is personal, good wine selection and the food perfectly cooked.

Brilliant setting for our last night in Port Douglas. Had the hay smoked pork (for two) with silky truffle mash, confit onions, roast fennel, crispy pig ears, and apple puree. Finished with chocolate fondant and lemon meringue. Best quality food in Port Douglas by far - good for a special night out. We had also been to Nautilus at the start of our holiday, which has a nice setting but is overrated in terms of food.

Had dinner at Harrison's for a business event. I was surprised by the amazing combination of flavours and colours. Every dish had ingredients that I had not tried before but all in all it was a great dining experience

We arrived on a windy night so not warm but fortunately we were seated in a sheltered area. I was getting the message below the table that the bities were enjoying a feed of my ankles but the wait staff got me some repellent and I stopped the savaging. We ordered a bottle of wine while we looked at the menu and decided on the set menu of four courses - two entrees, a main and dessert. We were asked if we wanted to have the wine matches but we were already through our first glass of wine. Confusing ... could we have swapped over?

First entree was scallops sans coral and cut to brick shape with crumbed sweetbreads. It looked interesting but was a bit confusing .. are you supposed to eat the veal sweetbreads with the scallops? Then we had pork ... a few porky morsels with crispy pigs ears, a splodge of pureed black pudding and apple underneath the construction. Again, were we supposed to be combining pork with pork? Confusing. Our main was beef cheek. It was cooked to melt in the mouth and came with creamy mash but very little colour in the way of vegetables. We finished off with a chocolate fondant which was really lovely and seriously rich so perhaps a bit much for our bellies after the rich dishes we had had. So, overall, very fancy and impressive on technique but confusing, rich and beige.

This is a 5 star restaurant so it is expensive but it is high end food. The food was delicious although some parts were just too fancy and didn't work (like the "foam" one on of the dishes) The plating is a work of art. We sat inside and could see inside the kitchen that looked like a well oiled machine. The chocolate fondant was my favourite, I did also have Ox Cheek that melted in your mouth. They did also have kids meals but they were exceptionally small and we did need to order a 2nd serve for my 6 year old.
