I wasn't very impressed when having arrived at our accomodation in Port Douglas we were advised by this operator the tour we had booked was not available as they had sold one of thier vehicles. As we were only in Port Douglas to do this & one other activity & had booked a month or so before, it was pretty annoying. At least a call to my mobile number a day or so before would have allowed me to weigh up our options. Luckily we had a bit of extra time & the people at the Queenslander were great so it wasn't a complete waste of time.
It was a pleasant afternoon drifting in a fresh stream on a hot afternoon, but to be honest I don't get the rave reviews. We saw a couple of tortoises, fish & an eel. For someone who would like a drive out of town & a relaxing swim in a crocodile free stream, go for it, but if you have a car & snorkel available & are to be staying in Cairns, I would suggest Babinda kayaks ( about an hour south of Cairns) as a cheaper alternative. The bloke there puts you into the stream, you paddle downstream for about 3 hours & he picks you up. Lots of nice swimming spots along the way.

Thank you for taking the time to review our River Drift Snorkel.
I do apologise that the lead in time to change your tour from the morning to the afternoon tour was not longer, as we knew just the day before that the vehicle was being sold. Unfortunately it was the only day the handover was available, but we are so glad that you could still come out and experience the tour, just a few hours later than originally planned!
It seems you also saw much wildlife during the river snorkel, which is great.
We always recommend 'going with a guide' on adventure activities to maximise the safety and also impart the local and environmental knowledge that our guides have.
We hope when you visit Port Douglas again we can showcase another one of our adventures.
Michaela

Just got back from a great day out with Glen who picked us up on time at 7 am this morning when we were delighted to see that just our family group would be his only guests for the day, We went on a rainforest broadwalk, visited Cape Tribulation beach, went Jungle Surfing, had a lovely lunch followed by an ice cream from Bill and Betty's - Guiness Icecream how good is that? Then onto a cruise on the Daintree River where we saw two crocodiles and finally to have a swim in the creek on the way home.
Great guide, good tour highly recommend it.

Enjoyed a morning of snorkelling, seeing wildlife (lots of fish and water dragons) and being in good company with a knowledgeable guide. The river was really cold :-) so wet suits provided were essential kit.

My husband and I did the half day Kayaking.

We had an awesome time, Barney was very knowledgable about the area and told us many stories about the sea life etc. We were a small group of six only.

Michaela then met us at the end of the trip with yummy fresh fruit and iced tea; perfect end to a great half day out.

I've snorkeled extensively in oceans but rarely in rivers. My drift snorkeling experience here in the Mossman River was great: tiny group, very personalized, and an interesting new ecosystem. We saw fish, turtles, and an eel (platypus was a possibility, though not too likely during the day). The guide had a good knowledge of the forest and river. Near the end of the dry season/start of the rainy season the river level was a bit low, so it wasn't as "drift-y" as it could have been: I'd suggest going when the water level is a bit higher.
