Bland tasting microwaved and tasteless. It's like they have lost interest in the restaurant, we made a decision not to go back again.

I am no expert on Mexican food as this was my first time trying an enchilada. I ordered the seafood one and it was delicious much better than the $35 rib fillet I had the night after. The nachos on the other hand were not that great not enough corn chips but the waiter did bring out more corn chips without us having to ask for them. Service was good and with the drinks you need to go to the bar to order them but they will bring them to your table. If you look in the local paper that have specials and you can get a voucher which gives you two mains for the price of one if you are seated and ordered before 6.30pm. This makes it great value. I really enjoyed the enchilada and will definately go back.

Overall experience here was terrible..
This was our second visit to Montezuma's in Cairns and whilst GREAT Mexican food is extremely hard to find in Australia, the food served here cant even be described as 'okay' - unless, perhaps you have never ever, in your life, had semi decent Mexican.
Chile Con Queso - one word.. Runny! Another word.. Tasteless! Its not a hard dip to make so very disappointing..
1/2 Serve Nachos - the size of a side plate, one single spread layer of corn chips covered in a little cheese thrown under the grill with a teaspoon of salsa on top.. And don't dare ask for the quacalmole to be served on the side as this will cost you $4.50 (for a tablespoon amount).. Nachos are about layers, corn chips, cheese, corn chips, cheese etc - served with salsa, guacamole, sour cream etc.. NOT a single spread layer of corn chips with cheese on top and not for approx $9.95 - outrageously disappointing...
Taquitos - credit where credit it due - at least the beef appeared to be cooked in a pressure cooker.. but it was dry.. no juicy deliciousness running down your fingers as you bite in to it.. just dry dry dry meat.. with no flavour..
Tacos - Lets put it this way, if your not usually a fan of tacos because they are messy and drippy - you would probably love the tacos here.. again, pressure cooked meat (yay!) but dry as a bone.. saw dust like almost.. and lacking serious flavour..
Enchiladas - tasteless.. it was like the food had its lights on but no one was home.. disappointing..

Then you have the service...
The staff appeared to not really want to be there.. We arrived and asked to sit outside as there was a spare table or two and this seemed like an awful effort to the staff, once we were seated we were given menus but after that it was a good 15 minutes before drink orders were taken or water was bought to the table..
10 minutes after this, drinks arrived.. we tried to place our food order but could only order entrees at this time (Im not quite sure why)..
20 minutes after this - we hailed the wait staff back and asked if we could place our mail meal orders.. they obliged.. although without a smile..
At this point we were still waiting for entrees, another waitress came over with plates and cutlery in hand and very oddly said "Oh, you've already had your entrees?" we informed her that no, we were still waiting for the nachos and dips combo.. In turn, she placed down the dining ware she had brought over...
Another 10 minutes go by and the original waitress comes over and asks if we have had our entrees yet, we inform her as well, that no, we have not yet been given our entrees... She says she will go and see whats happening.. Hey Presto! 30 seconds later - they are on our table.. Pondering the thought that they had been under the heat lamp for quite some time and no one remembered to bring them out..
Shortly after this our mains were brought out.. We were sharing so when they came to the table and asked who was having what - we just said anywhere in the middle would be fine..
WELL.. Didn't that seem to be the mother of all inconveniences - the waitress placed down the meals, rolled her eyes, and said 'Oh! Are you sharing?' The inflection in her tone didnt so much make it a question as it did a royal pain in her butt.. But she never the less, she about turned, stormed off, grabbed some plated and dumped them on the table..

And it wasn't even a busy night...

You know its bad when Old El Paso kits, pouches, sachets and salsa from the supermarket make a better tasting and more enjoyable meal at home compared this over priced, tasteless, poor service 'restaurant'...

The food is slop. My meal was cold in the middle as it had not being microwaved sufficiently, was just reheated & given back. Ordered enchilada's & nachos - both had no flavour.

Two lunch meals came to $52 & the quality was very poor.

This is the second time I have visited the establishment - the previous visit 3 years ago & both times I have regretted eating there. Terrible slop will NEVER eat there again
