“First Time Diving!”

A friend and I visited the reef today with CDC. We have done snorkelling all the way up the coast including in the whitsundays and this was by far the best snorkelling we have had. Also included in our price was a free intorductory dive. Neither of us have dived before and we we're very much lookign forward to it as well as being a bit nervous. Our instructor, Lee, was very welcoming and was funny as well as informative, which put us both and i'm sure everyone, at ease. Then it was time for our dive! All the crew were very helpful which meant we were in the water as quick as possible which meant we had the most time possible down in the depths. We loved every minute of it and we're just mesmorised by the underwater world! It may not have been the best place to dive in the reef but as a first time diver I coudln't fault it one bit. Lee was very good underwater constantly checking everything was okay which was good to know we we're in safe hands!
We then had plenty of time after our dive to explore with the snorkel. They didn't rush anyone to get out the water so they could get on with the day it was al nice and relaxed which we found good. The snorkelling was FAB! saw loads of cool creatures and fish, but unfortunately not turtles or sharks but hey ho!
Lunch was next and there was plenty of it and was all very nice, as well as a good selection. Cold meat sandwiches, pasta dish, a rice dish, lots of salad and plenty of biscuits!
We then moved to a second diving spot, we only snorkelled but again it was amazing and even better than the first spot.
Would highly recommend as the staff are all very welcoming and nice and the diving (especially for a beginner) was just amazing and a very good price for people backpacking like us!

Thank you CDC!!

“Extrem friendly team, super experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014

I did the one day diving and snorkeling tour on 10th of March with Cairns diving center. I have to say the tour was awesome! First of all you really get extremely good value for money. I did the intro dive and we spend 30min underwater. The team is extremely helpful and super friendly plus a lot of fun. Our diving instructor Lee took great care of all of us, introducing us to the risk and what we can and can't do. If you did well and wanted to you could even dive within his distance on your own. Roxy the photographer took awesome picture which you can buy for a reasonable price. The food was great and plenty and the groups were small. Besides the scuba diving, everyone could go snorkeling for a total of almost 2 1/2 hours on two different spots. Gear was provided and because of the nice team that really seems to know what it was doing and took great care you always felt very comfortable.
This tour has really been one of my hilights in Australia.

“Awesome time on the Reef with a Great Crew.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

I went for my open water cert through these guys and loved every minute ofit. Everything was done to a very high standerd through my pool dives and course by Ned and Glenn. They left me no choice but to be confident when it came time for my Ocean dives. Brad was a stupendous instructor and made things very easy and understandable so that passing the Openwater was no problem and even the three extra skill dives we did (night, deep and navigation) went of without a hitch. The food on the Kangaroo Explorer was delicious and all the staff were friendly and helpful. All in all it was an awesome trip and hopefully I will be able to do it again someday.

“great weekend dive trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Spent one night on the Kangaroo Explorer, as an add on to a work trip in Cairns. The diving was great. Dive safety was good. Food cheap but cheerful. Nice staff. The only aspect I didn't enjoy was being crammed onto the day tripper boat to get there-had to stand up in the sun all the way back to Cairns-got fried!

“Back diving again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2014

First time diving for a few years and what a place to do it. I did the 3 day 2 night (10 dive) trip on the Kangaroo Explorer. The staff on the boat were really friendly and helpful with a variety of languages spoken. Nice mix of people on the boat as well and all of differing dive experience. Snorkelers were welcome too. Food was very tasty and there was plenty of it.

It was a shame that we stayed at one of the dive sites for 5 dives and be aware that if you want to dive guided you need to pay extra ($15 per dive) so it can start to add up. Also, whilst the flyer says "All equipment included" this doesn't include compasses and torches (unless it's the night dive when you get a torch); these cost more as well. It seems as though this is the norm with most companies on the Reef though so it's a price you may have to pay to see the best stuff, unless you're confident enough to go alone with your buddy. Was awesome to see lots of turtles, sharks and even saw a manta ray! All in all had a great time, met some lovely people, but work out the extra charges you're going to be spending before signing up.
