Yes, resort is not the best description. It is a convenient basic hotel with fairly clean rooms but the outdoor areas and the pool are in great need of a clean-up and renovation. A quick dip in a hotel pool is something to look forward to in the hot weather but I certainly did not feel like going in. The young backpackers working there are friendly and helpful and it was good to be able to walk to all the restaurants on The Esplanade. It was reasonable value given that all the major hotels were heavily booked and had put their prices up a lot because of the solar eclipse. However, I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Check that the showers are working OK.

This is no resort the photos are totally untrue, it is dirty, very run down and you would have to be a total idiot to venture into that POOL! The staff were very pleasant. The location is convenient for downtown Cairns but there is some rather colourful establishments around. Not cheap for what you get, look around there is MUCH better!

Room Tip: Don't t think there can be any as they are all really out dated and had nothing done to them for...

The staff were extremely friendly and willing to help with any questions or concerns that I had. You couldn't ask for a better location, everything you need is within a 2-10 min walk.
The hostel itself was a bit dated and could use some work but for the budget traveller it has everything you need. Plus each room has a bathroom and small living space which was great. Its an awesome hostel to meet people with a central courtyard and free pool table. I would stay there again

Dreadful accommodation. Everything was dirty, beds, sheets, pillows, etc etc etc. It was obvious that the beds had not been changed and rooms had not been cleaned following the exit of previous guests although the bed was made up as if it had been changed. A rotten fish was found in the freezer part of the fridge. It was an absolute hovel. Certainly not what one would expect from the advertisement, i.e. a two bedroom apartment. We were aware that this was not the most expensive accommodation in Cairns but no matter how cheap accommodation is it ought to be clean and tidy, and this place was neither of those things. We could not stay there so left and found other accommodation.

Room Tip: No good rooms I would say. We looked at two and they were both awful

We booked an apartment for two nights but we checked out after one. The photos were misleading. It is budget accommodation but not budget price. Furniture was ripped and had food under the cushions. There was not dining table and an old TV. No tea, coffee, no kitchen cleaning equipment. Cutlery was dirty. Pillows provided were old and stained. Bedroom door looked like someone had punched a hole in it and the back door had rough repairs. All doors and windows were filthy. The whole place smelled of damp and mold. I would not recommend this "resort" to anyone. However the front desk staff were pleasant.

What a hovel. Even though the staff were very willing to help us the so-called two-bedroom unit was filthy so we asked for a cleaner room. Not much better, dirty, torn, faded upholstery on the cane couch and chairs, two dirty coffee cups, 3 mis-matched glasses, mis-matched plates, dirty toaster, dirty beds which we had to ask for clean sheets, dirty undies found under the bed. This for four people. Shower had to be cleaned as best it could, flushed toilet and it sounded like a fire alarm. No tea, coffee or washing up liquid. Hard to believe really isn't it, but it's all true. Sheets were stained and grey as were the towels.Pillows were stained, dirty and smelly. No internet which was advertised. We walked out after contacting the booking agent who sent someone round to check it out, and whooppee we got a full refund. Stay well away.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

I stayed here for 4 nites. I would not stay here again. The only thing that is good about it is the location- however there are soooo many other places in similar and in better locations.
The rooms are v basic. Also the corridors are dark and dingy- gives u the creeps when walking around at night. Lights in corridors don't work. No kettle in the room- just a sink in the 'kitchen'. Lighting did. Internet broken.
However the bigger thing that frustrated me was the staff/ the MOST unhelpful and unfriendly people ever! Also not 24/7 reception so if u try and check in after 7pm you have to call them- which can b v hard if u don't have an aus phone!
I would never stay here again.
