We stayed in 2 bedroom room for 3 nights; liked the size of room; view, kitchen, bathrooms and hotel swimming pool. people at the front desk were also helpful. they helped us with power adapters and questions regarding local attractions.

Stayed in one of the pool view hotel rooms recently, overall we were very disappointed. Friendly reception on check in, pool area andgardens were nice and the location is good. Now the bad... The room had a funky musty smell, not unlike your grandma's linen closet - damp and strange and quite gross. Carpet had a lovely array of unidentifiable stains, the lamp shades were dirty and mouldy, several quite dirty marks on the walls and ceilings and the clock radio was falling apart. The bed was 2 singles pushed together to make a King - not a zipper bed with a mattress topper as many hotels use effectively. The quilt didn't cover the bed - appeared to be a queen size quilt on a king size bed. The bathroom had extremely poor lighting meaning that the shower was essentially dark - oh yes the shower! We called it the closet of torture by one thousand tiny water needles! Who was the sicko that designed that shower head?? The hotels replies to most of the poor reviews here state that they wished the customer had raised the issues with reception at the time - it's not the customers job to be the cleaner/inspector/maintenance person - the staff should be raising the problems when the rooms are serviced - they are obvious and you get one shot at a first impression. The devil is in the detail. I've stayed at a number of great Mantra properties in the past, but we will never be back here and we suggest other readers avoid also till they lift their game. That said we did get a special on wotif for $99 so we kinda just laughed it all off - if we'd paid anything like full rate it certainly wouldn't have been funny though...

Firstly I would l like to invite you to contact me directly to provide me with more details of your stay so that I can specifically follow up some points raised in your feedback and report back to you.
I am pleased to hear about your comments regarding our friendly staff and property however it is disappointing to hear that your stay failed to meet both your expectations of the Resort and our goal of achieving a level of excellence in accommodation and service.
We do pride ourselves with high standard in requirements of our housekeeping department. The cleaning standard has been brought to the attention of the Executive Housekeeper and I do agree with you that our guest should not have to be a cleaner/inspector or maintenance person, though I would have liked the chance to discuss your experience personally whilst you were still staying with us and provided you with some solutions to your comments as well as have the specific room number in question. A majority of our beds are King Zipper beds and as a standard all beds placed together should be King Zip beds. Your comment on the shower head is concerning and I can assure you this is the first time this matter has come to my attention and I would like to replace the shower head in question.

As I stated I would l like to invite you to contact me directly to ascertain more personal details of your stay so we can follow up on the specific room number in question.

We arrived for our stay 3 bedroom ocean view self contained apartment. Travelling with 4 teenage sons, i rang ahead to request that the beds in room 2 &3 be split from a king to single beds.
On arrival at the apartment, i found queens beds. I rang down to reception and Tahlia said she would work something out. Within 5 minutes the manager was knocking on our door apologising for the mistake.
He promptly moved us to tower 2 sub penthouse, where the kids had 2 single beds, 1 queen and a fold up bed.
This apartment was beautiful. No complaints. I do wonder how you go booking it though as it hadnt come up on my radar, it was quite substantial in size although being only a 3 bedroom apartment.
I thank the Mantra crew, it was a stay we will never forget.
We always keep coming back as we have never been able to fault this apartment block. Previously being locals and using it numerous times before
10/10 for everything.

We stayed at the Mantra Trilogy in Oct 2012 with our two year old. After reading the reviews I decided to give them a call a couple of weeks in advance to request a room in tower 2 on level 3 (which is really the first level) so that we could have easy access to the pool!! Christian was very helpful and happily agreed to my requests!

He also mentioned that tower one was his favourite! After visiting, it was obvious that tower 1 did have excellent views if u ask for a high level facing the pool but we were willing to sacrifice the views for the easy pool access.

We walked into our 2 bedroom apartment and couldn't believe it!! We had a swim out room!!! Our two year old was delighted and so were we because we didn't need to carry everything down to the pool, we just had to open our own private pool gate and jump in!!! The pool was pretty cold but once you were in it was very refreshing.

The room itself was well appointed and clean. The bed was comfortable and it was easy to replenish dishwasher powder etc just by asking at reception. We had a dual key room which was a one bed apartment adjoining a hotel room. I would def recommend paying a bit extra to get an apartment as on its own the hotel room was TINY!!! Everything is within walking distance and we stocked up on groceries to save a bit of money on eating out!

Overall we had a fabulous time at the Mantra Trilogy.

We live in the northern beach area of Cairns and spent 1 night at Trilogy, so we could enjoy going out to dinner for our anniversary. The location is brilliant as mentioned in other reviews, whiich is the main reason that we chose it. However, on Agoda it stated that balconies overlooked the beachfront. Our room was on the 3rd floor opposite the pool, but did not actually overlook the pool, it looked out at an elevated sunbaking area adjacent to the pool. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible, it was difficult for me to do my makeup, but just as difficult for my husband to have a shave. And there is no mirror in the bedroom. Twinings tea bags were supplied, but with limited choice and no sugar only equal supplied. There was internet connection available in the room but at a charge. I have stayed at many, many hotels during the past year and internet has been supplied free. Also the directions in the underground carpark do not exist. We have stayed in lots of hotels from backpackers to 5 star and found this hotel very disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 4th floor.

Thank you for taking the time and writing about your recent experience at Mantra Trilogy.
We always appreciate constructive comments which help us to maintain and improve our standards
as well as meet and exceed guest expectations.
It is disappointing to read that information posted on a travel agent’s webpage was seemingly incorrect and gave you such a poor first impression of our beautiful resort.
It seems from your comments that Agoda referred to the Ocean View Apartments that directly overlook the Esplanade. This does not apply to the standard Apartments which boast pool views, mountain views or partial ocean views.
Worthwhile to note is that Mantra Trilogy currently looking into the possibility to improve the current setup of the bathroom lightning as this has been previously brought to our attention.
Regrettably none of our apartments contain a separate stand up mirror in the bedroom as a full-size mirror can be found as a feature on the wardrobe doors within each unit.
We have forwarded your comments regarding the missing sugar to our housekeeping department as ample supply of Tea, Coffee and Sugar should be in your room. Any additional supplies needed would be provided free of charge via reception. It is worth mentioning the sugar sachets look very similar and can easily be mistaken as coffee. We currently trying to ascertain via the supplier if a change in packaging is possible.
The Wireless internet system installed in the Trilogy complex is owned and operated by Azure Wireless. The system is independent of the hotel and is monitored by Azure staff to ensure connectivity at all times. It is regrettable that presently Mantra Trilogy has no means of providing this service free of charge.
Please accept my sincerest apologies and thank you again for taking the time to write to us and advise us of your concerns.
We hope to be able to welcome you back to Mantra Trilogy and trust you will not have the same experience.

Great location in Cairns. Centrally located to everything you want to do and eat. Rooms are reasonable size with kitchen and all cooking facilities. Also has a laundry with washing machine and dryer. Beds are comfortable and there is a view from your bed of the esplanade and water. The bathrooms are a little dated and could do with a really good clean. Hotel staff are very obliging and friendly. We stayed at the MT for 5nights. The resort is quite lovely. The biggest disapointment for me was the gym facilities. They are run down and minimal. The 3 best pieces of equipment are one treadmill and 2 bikes. However the eliptical, rower and spin bikes are rusted and tired looking.
The towers do cast a shadow over the pool area by the afternoon and if it's a bit windy then it is really cold up there. I imagine that the pool area would be perfect for those really hot and windless tropical days. We couldnt use the pool in the afternoon during our stay due to winds, even though the weather was 29degrees.
Some of the chairs by the pool were broken and therefore uncomfortable to sit on or lie on.
Overall the resort does need some basic 'facelift' work like new furniture, gym equipment, fans in room (ours was a bit noisy).
On a positive note the location is perfect - walking distance to everything - and the reception staff were wonderful. We were always greeted with a smile and they were always happy to help. A super team and management should be proud of them. We came as a group of 3 families and they put us all on one level which made the stay comfortable as the kids could go from room to room without using the elevators. I love the room key and lanyard system. This made access around the hotel easy. The beds were really comfortable and everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. Thanks for a good stay

Room Tip: Room with a pool view is handy if you have older kids to watch and need to go grab something in room...
