One of the cheapest and quickest places to get to on the reef. It's a small island that looks more like a beautiful beach than the Great Barrier Reef. It's a good place to relax and swim, but if it's the Great Barrier Reef you want to see with all the pretty coral and fish, you should pay a bit more and go on a snorkelling tour to the outer reef. That would be more value for money than what Green Island is.

We enjoyed our laid back day here, but didn't find it to be anything exceptional. The beaches were small and crowded, unless you took a long walk, and then those beaches had jellyfish. The shopping area was crowded and expensive, and the only freshwater showers were out of order. We did enjoy the crocodiles and sea turtles at the small animal center, though I can't recall the name at the moment. And my husband found sea turtles when he went out snorkeling. Nice for a laid back day, if you are willing to deal with crowds of tourists.

nice little island to visit. only trouble was the tide was out and I couldn't go snorkelling of my own accord. I ended up coughing 40 bucks for the snorkelling tour but it was well worth it.

Had excellent weather & glass bottomed boat tour was great. Water was a little cold to swim in at the beach & the pool despite a warm day(28 degrees). The food options for the buffet were extremely disappointing for the price & the barramundi fish & chip pack was expensive for the size of the piece of fish i got but it tasted great. Sun lounge & umbrella hire were very expensive & i'm glad i booked with tour group that had access to pool area for free so my partner & i could relax there without paying. As i'm a heavy asthmatic i was unable to snorkel or scuba dive on the reef which would have made my day better if i was able to.

I went on a half day tour and it was well run and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. There was just enough time to walk around the island, look at the small shopping broadwalk area, have a coffee and go on a glass bottom boat.
