The volunteers helpful and friendly. Wonderful exhibits, learnt a bit about the history of Cairns, specially during WW2.

We arrived a hour before closing, so didn't expect to see the entire collection. But we were grabbed by the volunteer tour guide who took us on a whirlwind tour of everything in the museum he found interesting, taking pictures of us throwing spears, holding crocodile heads, and just generally being an entertaining hour. I can't comment on the entire museum and its collection since he really wanted to show us just a few things in detail, but in the blur of running around, it looks like there were plenty of things which could have kept us occupied if were weren't otherwise occupied. Maybe I didn't experience this museum in my normal way, but I enjoyed it in a entirely new way. I'm sure this museum must be great for kids, lots of touching things and seeing how people used to live in the past.

We visited this little museum and found it very interesting. There is a lot of information about World War II as it affected Far North Queensland. The staff were friendly and delightful. There is a little drawing table for children to occupy themselves while you look around and kids can sit in a dentist chair and an aeroplane for photo opportunities.

A lovely inner city museum on Cairns that details the local history. The volunteers are terrific and the exhibits bring the history to life. A beautiful veranda overlooking the city centre, in a building that was part of Cairns early history.
