The train winds its way up the hill to Kuranda and the view and scenery were amazing, We were lucky enough to travel on a reasonably quiet day, I would think the early trip would be the one to take heading up as it would be quite uncomfortable in the old carriages when there are a lot of people.

We booked the self drive option for the railway which worked well. We parked at the visitor centre and then took a short bus ride to the train station before boarding the train for the 1 and half hour journey to Kuranda. Lots of places on the way to take photos. There was commentary which was great for pointing out areas of interest. Got a bit boring for our 13 year old but my husband and I loved it.

Fantastically amazing. the old steam train makes its way through the beautiful scenery. It is a spectacular way to see the rain forest and hills. There is so much to see wonderful waterfalls and lookout points that remind you of what great work the conservationists do.
All together a wonderful way to travel

If you love. slow trains and forest scenery then I would recommend this. But for me, it was rather boring.

Thanks for the review. We appreciate that this trip is not for everyone, but we still hope you enjoyed the scenery and the 100 year old carriages.
