Owner description: Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

“Nice scenic railway tour”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

I love trains and travel on them whenever possible. Took the gondola up and road the train back. You can do this in either direction. You can eat lunch in Kuranda, lots of shops and restaurants. The train intself is a slow go. It's only 4.5 miles from Kuranda to Freshwater, but the train stops at Barron Gorge Falls for the photo opportunity, making the trip closer to 45 minutes.

“Perfect for the railway lovers”
Reviewed December 25, 2013

Beautiful and authentic Freshwater station was something to see. Although Japanese tourists may have many chances to enjoy railway rides elsewhere domestically, this Scenic Railway was quite British-like and I enjoyed the ride. They offere oshibori service to each passenger and they provide drinking water for free.

We loved the scenery very much: the river, the waterfalls and the forest. We took some beautiful photos of this natural attraction.
