Owner description: Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

“What views!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Whenever in Cairns we always take the train to Kuranda, and usually the return trip. It is such a spectacular trip, and the train and Kuranda Station, are a credit to the town.

“Very Scenic Journey”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

A trip on the Heritage Train to Kuranda is a must, and back if you don't like the skyrail. Or bus back for $8. Most of the carriages were built in the 1930's. the scenery is beautiful from this train, and the staff lovely and friendly.

“Scenic ride up the mountain”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The old train chugged us up the mountain slowly. Excitement comes every now and then - great views and waterfalls to see. Relaxing trip.

“Very long ride”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

We enjoyed about the first half of the trip from Kuranda back to Cairns. We picked up some of the history from the recorded information playing, and enjoyed the experience of riding in a train. But we were all restless and ready to get off when the train arrived at freshwater station after over an hour and a half. Worth doing, if you have the time, but we preferred they skyrail
