Owner description: Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

“A wonderful journey”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

If you go up on the skyrail cable car, make sure you return by the railway. The views are amazing - especially of the Barron Falls where you are nearer than on the viewpoint on the cable car. The train slows down where there are particularly good views. You really appreciate the feat of engineering to build this railway. A courtesy bus is provided f you have left your car at the skyrail terminal.

“Tremendous views”

To go up by railway and back down by cable-car is a day trip you'll never forget. Kuranda is worth the visit especially if you adore Koalas.

“Fantastic Daytrip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

We had a combined Gulflander railway and Kuranda Skyrail pass that was fantastic. We rode the train up to Kuranda (two departure times of 0830 or 0930 and lasted around two hours) and took the Skyrail through the rain forest back to the area we departed that morning from. We took our time and completed the journey around 1600.

This was a very chill, relaxing experience. The train was nice and slow so you were able to catch some great photos, learn about the process used to build the railway and relax into the trains slow and steady rythm.

The Skyrail was nice - few good photos but I enjoyed the train more.

“Train ride was fun but a bit expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

As it is highly recommended in the traveller guide book, we decided to try the Kuranda scenic railway. It was more expensive then the skyrail. If you have extra money to splurge, then go for it. Otherwise you can see the rainforest too from skyrail.
