They were convenient when we booked online for a triple seater for 60 dollars. They also had a deal with a pick up service which got us to the hotel in the middle of the night for 5 dollars a head. The room was big (actually almost a 4 seater). The toilet just across the corridor. Clean and comfortable. Has a tiny hole called a swimming pool, but good for a plunge. Good though small grounds. Basic kitchen. Staff not too friendly. Made us checkout at 10 promptly despite us having reached only at 4 the night before. Very business like.

Only stay here as a last resort! Booked this hostel from the reviews on other travel sites. Arrived early in the morning and was told we could hang out in the lobby and sleep. The staff left my keys in the mailbox (there is a key to the outergate which is good for safety) but there was absolutely no where to even get comfortable in the lobby. Once the place was opened we wanted to go to our room to rest and it was DIRTY! Looked like it had never been cleaned! There were ants crawling around on all the walls. We had already prepaid but knew we would NOT be staying there. We were able to get some of our money back and went and found another hostel to stay at. The guy asked why we were leaving and said he had been on vacation which is why the rooms may have been dirty but judging by the dust caked in the room and trash left on the ledge, it was definitely longer than just the last week since it had been cleaned.

This hostel is basic and a little far from the city centre but the service from Hiromi is excellent and the tour desk gets a 10% discount on almost all the tours in Cairns which probably makes it worth staying here just for that.Double rooms had a shower which was good for $52 considering we paid $80 in Brisbane for just a bed.

My first hostel stay and wasnt a pleasant one!Staff were very unhelpful and reception had queues all the time.Rooms were dated and not very clean, small poky communal bathrooms.
Wasnt the best atmosphere around the place and distance from the city. The noise at night made it difficult to sleep despite signs around asking people to remain quiet after 11."Swimming pool" is a big bath, don't be fooled!Unless your very stuck for a bed, don't bother!

Recommended for those on a budget. Friendly and helpful staff - easy and convenient to travel to Cape Trib and Great Barrier Reef. Bookings can be done on site.

One of the neatest things about this place was that there weren't any room numbers. That being said, we ended up in "One Butterfly" the first night and "One frog" for our second two nights. "One Butterfly" was completely awesome. Comfortable and it felt like you were sleeping in a treehouse. Great room temperature and comfortable bed with toilets close by. "One Frog" however was in need of a little TLC. The bed was sloped and if two people slept on it one would fall into the other. It also was just a little bit of a let-down after staying in "One Butterfly" which was nicer and mysteriously....cost less. It's a great stay because the "quiet rule" is definitely enforced and it's easy to get a good night's sleep. There's also plenty of kitchen space!

It's a good spot.

Positives: friendly people in hostel and friendly knowledgeable woman at from desk.
nice and quite. Neat cat that runs around. free pasta meal at a bar.
Negative: As the last guy said I found the beds to be HORRIBLE, there is only a thin cotton matress about 4 inches thick so you can feel the bars at the bottom dig into your back. rooms are super cramped and you have to pay for everything there. Internet, pool table etc. its pretty dirty and lots of the stuff is ripped or broken. The value is not there, pay a few more bucks somewhere else and enjoy your sleeping. The reviews on here are way to generous (apparently he gives free internet to people who give a good review noted in a few reviews earlier), Line-ups at the front desk are normally large and take forever. It feels like you are staying in a dumpy half way house. This place needs a huge makeover. its a 15 min walk to the beach and its far from any decent bars. also the owner is odd, his personality was not very friendly.
