Me and my partner came over from England and have stayed here for about a month now made so many friends mostly the staff, be sad to go staff are extremely helpful and anything you need they'll help with, like a little family all together. So relaxed and chilled out perfect spot everything is 2 min walking distance we have really enjoyed are stay and fire show, movie nights ,nights out and pizza night. We both want to thank erin,Chris on reception, Emma who's been so helpful!! Going to miss everyone. Highly recommend this place.

We stayed at Dreamtime for 4 nights prior to flying to New Zealand and were recommended the hostel by someone we met on our travels.

The staff are friendly and helpful and it is clear from reading the 'Dreamtime story' that a lot of thought and effort has gone into making the hostel a cosy and comfortable environment with a charitable ethos.

Although the layout of the hostel promotes a 'family feel' we were unlucky to get a double room right next to the courtyard, meaning we didn't really get any good nights sleep despite choosing the hostel for it's name and reputation. One night a group were playing music and were very loud until 4am - we understand that backpackers are the way they are but it was a shame that we personally didn't have the best experience.

Additionally we paid quite a lot per night for our room, which was very small and didn't really reflect the photos on the website/on hostelworld. I would recommend this hostel to other travellers but would advise that anyone wanting to stay in a double room asks to be put at the back of the building rather than next to the courtyard. Also the reception closes from 12 - 4, which is a little inconvenient, so make sure any questions, requests or laundry (for change and powder) is done outside those hours.

Hi Maddie , thanks for your feed back while staying with us glad to know you would recommend , sorry to hear about your experience with late night quests making noise unfortunately some people are less considerate, your right the budget double is smaller and the only one facing the courtyard. next time we will upgrade you to a large one at no extra charge.

By far the best hostel i've stayed in during my stay in australia. Me and my girlfriend were upgraded to a double room, got free wifi etc. Rooms are clean, kitchens are great, good atmosphere and helpful staff! I recommend this hostel to everyone planning on visiting cairns.

I stayed for a week in Cairns. Dreamtime was recommended by a friend. I had a single room, which was small, but clean and nice.
The hostel took care about all the bookings I needed and I had a great time.

I would definitely recommend to stay there. It's a quiet and familiar hostel. Not a party place at all, but the BBQ and the movie nights were really good.

Some rooms which are near the kitchen might be not that quiet.

Room Tip: I had room in the back of the hostel, which was a single or double room which was at the other end of the hostel and very quiet. The room next to the kitchen or a bathroom are always a bit louder, because people get up early to hop on their tours pretty early.

Dreamtime is a great little hostel to stay in Cairns if you don't feel like being in the city centre where the partying is. It has a really cosy atmosphere with a bunch of palm trees and hammocks all around the property. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
