“Delightful!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

The staff were charming and very helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs.
The rooms were clean and well serviced.
The location was fair, but did require a short walk to the shops and restaurants.

Spent 2 night at this hotel - impressed with service, great breakfast which was included. Rooms are large but beware of the big step out of the shower onto the bathroom floor - has to be a good 50cm. drop Air con was a bit noisy but beds were comfortable and they provided plenty of amenities for bathroom. Pleasantly surprised with room service menu only $15 for Chicken Salad Chips which tasted great and the price was very reasonable' particularly for a high tourist area. Only 10-15 min walk to the CBD so manageable distance and would recommend this hotel

Dear Vietnamexplorer,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We very much appreciate your feedback as it allows us to continually review and improve our services and facilities.
We are happy to inform you that we are in the process of changing our old air conditioning systems in the rooms with new inverter type ones which are not only quite but extremely efficient as well to suit the region’s climate during summers.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the hotel, our service, room size, dining options and the location.

It is very rewarding to hear that you felt that the hotel was good and that you would recommend us. We look forward to welcoming you back on a future visit to Cairns.

Kind regards,

We stayed two nights and it was a very confortable and clean room. The location is very good as it's near the city center and not far away from the Reef Fleet Terminal for all the different boat trips available. The staff was very nice and helpful.

It was a good hotel to stay. Location was Nice and the rooms were somewhat comfortable. However
the main problem in this hotel is that if you arrive after 10 in the night you are not allowed to go through the main door. You will be given a key by the manager and you have to tell the exact time
at which you will arrive. Reception is not open 24 hours it runs from 6 in the morning to 9 in the night. If you need to check out of the hotel at suppose 3 AM in the morning you have to check out at 6 in the evening. I would not recommend this hotel to any body who has to check out early morning or late night. Otherwise it is a fine hotel .

Traveled on June 2011.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor are bigger in size than that of the ones in the ground floor.

Dear Somin B,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We very much appreciate your feedback.

Whilst we are pleased to learn that you were happy with the hotel’s location and the guest room, we are very sorry that your overall stay experience fell below your expectations.

It concerns me to learn that you were not updated with some of the hotel’s policies.
Our reception certainly closes at 09:30 pm but there is a night staff stationed at the hotel for late arrivals and emergencies. We only ask for arrival time from guests who wish to check in after the reception hours and not to in-house guests. In-house guests can freely access their rooms at all times, provided they have the room key with them. This is an added security measure that we have put in place for our guests.
Early check-out can easily be arranged by informing the reception team the previous day.
Lastly standard rooms on the first floor are exactly the same size as ground floor.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to a future opportunity to exceed your expectations at the Coral Tree Inn.

Kind regards,

Anand Churi

We stayed here from 9/24 to 9/28 2013. This hotel is very clean and welcoming. Our room was on the 2nd floor poolside. There is no elevator but no big deal. The room was simple, very clean and comfortable, air conditioned and with a balcony. The electricity for the room is activated with your room key fob. You simply insert the fob into the switch just inside the door of the room. The only power that stays on while you are out of the room is the free refrigerator and the phone. Great for saving electric bills. Let's face it, we were there to explore the Reef, the Rainforest and Kuranda not stay in a room. The Breakfast buffet, while not extensive, was good with both hot and cold fare. The Price was right @ $12.50 per person. We had a low room rate so Breakfast was not included. Other guests had breakfast included. I expect they paid a little more for their rooms. Dinner at the hotel was very limited and fair. 3 main dishes for $25 each. You can have a lot more ambiance at a commercial restaurant near the shoreline. There are not a lot of places to dine near the Coral Tree unless you walk to the Esplanade area 6+ blocks away. Which we did. HOWEVER. There is a hotel close by called the Ibis which had a good restaurant with reasonable prices. There is a Holiday Inn close to Coral Tree with an elegant restaurant. We passed on it because we didn't want to pay their prices.
Coral Tree booked our tours and were very helpful in gathering information from the tour operators themselves. Local calls are free. Long distance calls ( we made one to Amamoor near Gympie) were reasonable.

You should know that many businesses in Australia will add a 1% surcharge on to a Credit Card payment. They are very good about asking your permission First before adding the surcharge. Coral Tree does add the 1% to your bill with your permission.

Credit cards in Australia have PIN #s OR a signature. No worries though. You can bypass the "pin" request by choosing "enter" on the keypad and the charge will go through. There are no taxes added to your bill and tipping is not expected unless you receive very excellent service. While not a consistent policy, many restaurants will expect you to pay by walking to the Cashier's/Host's desk to pay. Once the server has served you and checked on your meal at least once, their job is done. So don't sit at the table waiting for the server to bring the bill. Just go to the Cashier/Host and they will take your payment.

My husband, mother and I had a short weekend break at the coral tree inn and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a large suite with two king beds, separate lounge, kitchenette and ensuite bathroom. The room was spotlessly clean, had crisp linen, fat pillows and very very comfortable beds. The room also boasted the biggest tv I've ever had in a resort room, very efficient air conditioners, which we didn't need as the night was pleasantly cool so the ceiling fans were adequate given we could leave the doors open as they were security screened. We walked every where, to the esplanade, the movies, the RSL for dinner and rusty's market. The staff are friendly and helpful, all up a lovely little hotel, perfectly positioned for a stay in Cairns. We'll be back, you can be sure of that.

Excellent service especially Kenji in reception. Room was nice with en suite and baby cot was made up nicely for our arrival. Thank you I really appreciated that. Hope to see you again next year.
A short walk to the esplanade made this accommodation very good value for $$.
