so many beautiful rainforrest plants from all over the world...the lady from the visitor centre was very helpful. There is a free guided tour everyday but we missed it.

“Relaxing gardens”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

We have been travelling for two months and the relaxed pace of the gardens was just what we needed. There are numerous buses which will take you from Cairns centre to the gardens and back again without any problem. There were good maps of all the areas and we enjoyed a morning exploring all corners with lots of plentiful shade available. We had lunch at the restaurant and were very pleased with the food and beverages. It is not a huge garden but there are many walks available from the gardens too and we did some of those as well. It was a delightful morning.

“A Nice Way to Pass the Time”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

We visited to pass the time before we had to go to the airport. Lots to see and plenty of walking, so make sure you take a bottle of water especially in the heat.

Some lovely plants though, plenty of good photo opportunities.

“Lovely but smaller than expected”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

I took a walk up to the botanic gardens expecting great things and it almost lived up to my expectations. The gardens were beautiful and set up for soothing rambling walks. There were clear paths and plenty of sign posts so we always knew where we were. MY only complaint is that it was smaller than it looked on the map, which is the opposite of what I am used to in Australia! I wouldn't mind so much if it were closer to the city centre but it took us longer to get there than it did to walk round it. Slightly more gardens or a better location and I'd be giving this place 5/5.

Having said that I did enjoy my visit and had a lovely relaxing time there with my friend. I'd happily go back in day when I feel like a proper walk followed by some R&R in beautiful surroundings.
