All of it, the Visitors Centre, the old cafe, Tank Arts Centre and the gorgeous lush, colourful vegetation. Friendly staff

One of Australias heritage rainforests within 5 minutes of CBD. Beautifully landscaped gardens and walks, wheelchair accessable and the cafe has some great food too. MUST bring the mosquito repellant at all times though. They do have a few cans you can use at their information centre but don't take advantage of this, bring your own.

“Beautiful and free!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

What an easy way to admire and appreciate an amazing collection of tropical plants and colourful flowers. The gardens are close to town and well worth a small detour on the way to the airport. Parking may be a problem at weekends or when events are held at The Tanks.

“Another wonderful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This was a surprise. We had passed the Botanic Gardens on a previous day and decided to go back. We were impressed with the design and beauty, aligned to the natural environment. The coffee in the shop was great and the staff in the lovely Visitors' Centre charming and helpful. They went to the trouble of booking a taxi for us. The picture Guide Book is also attractive and informative.

“Small but sweet”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We came across the gardens in our guidebook and they are useful as an afternoon’s diversion if you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend time. The boardwalk is a true gem. You tread the creaky timbers above the marshy ground, as it twists and turns through the forest. There are signs directing your gaze, although the most impressive direction is up to the tree canopy, with multicoloured fruits and berries and hanging vines.
The gardens are more of a tranquil place with small winding leafy covered pathways and timber bridges crossing a bubbling brook. Small is definitely the key word though, with the maps being a bit misleading. From the maps supplied the gardens look deceivingly large and yet you can take it all in, seeing all the paths and buildings in about half an hour.
Nevertheless a good place to spend an afternoon although a little remote from Cairns central or the esplanande.
