“Beautiful Gardens”

Beautiful gardens, has two walking trails up Mount Whitfield which are great "rainforest' walks (make sure you take enough water), very peaceful and a great place to relax. Cafe that serves tasty meals.

If in Cairns this is a must , the gorgeous tropical gardens and wildlife are stunning. I was amazed at the beautiful colors . Easy to get too and cafes are good for a quick bite and coffee.
Take insect repellant.

“Beauty, science and a history lesson”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Cairns Botanic Gardens were an education we did not expect. The Gondwunan Heritage Garden is a walk through plant evolution based on fossil evidence. It is so well presented it goes down easy and make you feel smart. The Aboriginal Garden has fascinating stories of toxins to contraceptives. The Fletcher Garden has sign number by tropical plants from all over the world. We spent several hours and like the cafe there too.

“Nice Gardens”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

The highlight here is the red arrow walk that leaves from the RHS of the gardens and heads up through the rainforrest onto a small range over looking the airport . Take some water as its a solid walk , but justified by the view at the top . Wait a littl while at the top and watch some planes take off

“Tropical Paradise”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

These botanical gardens were of a world class standard.
They are situated in Edge Hill a northern suburb of Cairns. There was a huge variety of tropical plants in a variety of different environments from greenhouses to swamplands. The area was beautifully landscaped and there were numerous well paved paths and boardwalks to follow. I particularly loved looking at the orchids and the bromeliads. This would be a gardener's paradise.
