for a reef snorkelling experience, which company to choose depends on which location of the reef this company will bring you to. Upolu reef is quite good, on the day we had the trip, water is calm and the coral is fantastic enough for me, a first time snorkel. i saw green turtle, reef sharks, a large variety of colourfull fish, different corals, sea cucumber, sea stars. and we were well looked after. i did not see any jelly fish, but unfortunately, one guy got jelly fish sting, may be when he tried to dive down with only the snorkelling equippment...we are forced to go to green island, where the guy could be taken over by medical team. the care for this guy is good enough in the boat before the hangover to the medical.
in the afternoon, we changed our location from upolu to green island, which is much poorer location for snorkelling. coral is not as beautiful as upolu cay. however, just a morning session of snorkelling had already enough for me, as a first timer. and i am happy that the injuried guy was well looked after by the crew.

another good thing about this company is that this is a small group trip, i saw big boat with hundreds of passengers on board, really scary to see so many people with noisy kids and crowded on broad. although this boat does not offer glass bottom view, however, you will miss nothing if you snorkel. it will be hundreds times better than a glass bottom view.
the crew members are very friendly, the captain is a bit serious, but i believe that he is serious and responsible in looking after the guests, which is a good thing. keep it.

They advocate that they would take care of non-swimmers. But once I was in the water, they urged me to go back to the boat.

We had the pleasure of going out on the boat with the guys from Reef Daytripper and had the best experience. We had a small group of ten people which made snorkeling the reef easy. Did not have to worry about bumping into people. Lunch, wine, and cheese tray were very tasty. If you are looking to go out to the reef with a great crew and a small group of people, this is the tour for you.

I do a reef trip every year and have tried many trips - from large catamarans to the cheaply priced Compass. This has got to be the best ever! We chose it because it was such a reasonable price and it was a small group max. (20 people). It was also the best decision we made for any trip. Mark, John, Belle and Derek treated everyone like family. We were thoroughly informed about the equipment and the reef before arriving. The boat and all equipment were spotlessly and obviously lovingly cared for. Tea and coffee on arrival, a lovely lunch of cold meats and salad and on the return trip wine and plenty of cheese and fresh fruit. But the reef! They are allocated their own spot at Upolo reef and it was the prettiest part of the reef I've ever been to. The water was crystal clear and we were lucky enough to see turtles, sea snakes, sting ray and many tropical fish, some of which I hadn't seen before. The coral was beautiful and colorful and the giant clams have colorful phosphorescent lips! We even saw Nemo and his parents! All of the crew (except one who stays with the boat) get into the water with you and point out things that you might miss on your own. It is very safe and it is the crews aim to ensure you have a special experience. Stupidly I didn't take a camera this trip! The bonus for us is that they do private charters at a very reasonable price and as the whole family are coming to Cairns next year we can book Mark and his crew for a family day out! The trip out is about 2 hours so take a book or just doze on the nets and enjoy the sun. We are really looking forward to taking the kids next year especially the grandchildren! Well done crew! See you next year!

Reef Daytripper is a very small boat, holding only 20 people and it feels a bit crowded, but it is a great value and the crew and captain are terrific. The cost for two people is only $258 including port tax with wet suits included. The boat is a sailing catamaran with nets in the front for sunbathing or warm up, inside are benches for the trips to and from the reef or to get out of the sun. Check-in was at the boat and very easy. The captain unfurled the sails for us coming and going, we had a bit of wind, but we never fully sailed. Be prepared, it does take a fair amount longer to get there and get back. They gave us cold lunch, tea in the afternoon and even gave us a glass of wine for the return trip. The snorkel sites were great, we saw a shark and a ray on this trip! The small crew was wonderful. They really wanted us to have a good experience and were laid back and fun. They were professional without being bossy or bored. They actually talked to everyone on the cruise for a bit, got to know us and were friendly and warm. It is a small family-owned business and it shows. Can’t recommend them enough if you want value and a good time.
