We were picked up from our hotel for this tour and driven to the station for the Scenic Rail journey. We received our itinerary off the driver with times we should adhere to for our day. We had a lovely journey to Kurunda and their are plenty of shops to browse in and attractions to visit. However we did have a problem in that we had not realised this was an independent tour initially as we had booked through our travel agent. I have no problem with this however we did not know what the Rainforestation part of our day consisted of and we did not receive any information with our itinerary. So one of our first ports of call was to the information centre at Kurunda for a brochure. At Kuranda there is a Butterfly Sanctuary, Birdworld and Koala Gardens and we did not want to pay to enter these if visiting similar attractions at Rainforestation. However apart from that we had a great day Kurunda is lovely and browsing around the markets was a delight. Rainforestation was interesting looking around the wildlife area with a guide and the journey on the amphibian vehicle. My only complaint was we did not have long enough to do either the Rainforestation or Kurunda justice before we were whisked back to Kurunda for our Skyrail ride back down. I'm sure the skyrail is fantastic if unlike me you are not scared of heights - it was so high! There are options to get off at 2 stations on route for a look around and the itinerary is very clear of how long you can spend at each without missing your transport back to Cairns. Altogether a fantastic day out - maybe just a little more information could be provided.
