“Rusty's is great - Tarot Card Reader Not So Great”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

Rusty's Markets are fantastic! Fresh fruit and vegetables and lots of produce from the far north like avocados and bananas are so cheap. They have little tiny bananas that are so cute smaller than lady fingers and are so delicious. Went past the tarot card reader with a friend and we decided to get a reading for fun. The woman was the rudest I've ever encountered anywhere in the world! Not only was she disinterested (she kept knitting) as we tried to ask if she was free, but she said that she didn't want to give us one and threw us out! What a shame that she wrecked our wonderful experience that we were having all morning talking to stall holders, sampling the produce and buying up for our stay in Cairns. You have to go past the bread stall and see Alan who makes half spelt half dark rye it's soooo delicious! He's by the Grafton Street entrance. I bought four loaves to take home with me. Best value in Cairns, friendly atmosphere, terrific vibe, and you can feel everybody loves being there. Such a shame the tarot card reader spoilt our morning and whereas others love being there she clearly doesn't. I don't know why people need to be so rude, especially when it's your business. Cairns has lots of tourists, and to make them feel like she made us feel is very sad. On a happier note, we did find another friendlier tarot card reader, a guy this time, in Cairns Central and ended up getting a great reading that was value for money - for fun - and it was fun!

“Rusty's Market a foodie's dream”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

Definitely worth a visit if you're in Cairns Friday Saturday or Sunday. I went on a Sunday first thing after I arrived in Cairns specifically to get a supply of tropical fruits for my 4 days in Cairns. I was not disappointed. There are stalls selling pineapples, sapote, dragonfruit, longans, rambutans, banana leaves, fresh herbs, etc etc. Quite a few of the stalls offer samples, so I was able to taste a few new (to me) fruits like a yellow dragonfruit.

A highlight was a young drinking coconut, top slashed off by a guy with a wicked looking knife. Sipped fresh with a straw. Yum!

There are other market stalls offering cheap trinkets and bits-and-bobs but you can get far better art work at the Port Douglas Sunday market.

“Rusty's Cairns”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

Rusty's Market is a great place to visit in Cairns. Quite a lot of stalls have 'sample' fruits for you to try and also a great place to get to know those exotic fruits you have never seen before.
In the 'old days' Rusty himself was quite a character. Tiny little guy with a fantastic personality. You could always spot him wearing his cowboy hat and money bag.
Rusty's is open from Friday to Sunday. Closing around 2 p.m. on the Sunday. Around 1 p.m. on the Sunday the stalls have remarcable bargains to off load produce. Example: I spotted a box of mangos selling for a dollar when they were in season. YES $1 a box!
A must do for every traveller coming to Cairns.

It is really a must to visit Rusty market every weekend. It is open from Friday and Sunday. You get there lot's of fresh fruits and vegetables of the surroundings. You can choose of so many different kinds of fruits and everything is cheaper than in a supermarket.

“Fresh Produce”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

A local fruit and vegetable market opened on Friday-Sunday. Closes at 3PM. Great selection and good prices with some vendors offering samples. The jewelry and other trinkets are not very good quality.
