Owner description: Alongside Cairns is a magnificent tidal estuary that is rarely seen, except by fishermen. Only accessible by boat, M.V. Crocodile Explorer is a comfortable, air-conditioned vessel taking small numbers of visitors along Trinity Inlet on this scenic nature cruise. With waterways winding through a 300 square kilometre maze of mangroves, expect rich diverse wildlife, stunning scenery and a relaxing cruise with informative commentary from our crew. This is the saltwater crocodile’s natural habitat – with a chance to spot them basking on the muddy banks particularly in the cooler months. Cairns Harbour Cruises depart daily at 11.00am and 1.30pm for a 2 hour cruise. We also offer an evening cruise departing at 5.30pm daily.Picture yourself drinking sparkling wine while watching the tropical sunset from Trinity Inlet. A sunset cruise aboard the MV Crocodile Explorer sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. As our friendly crew greet you on board you will be offered a welcome drink to enjoy on deck prior to departure. The Sunset Cruise allows passengers to soak in beautiful views of the waterways, mangroves and mountains in the magical early evening sun. The 90 minute cruise includes a sparkling wine, standard beer, wine or soft drink and savoury nibbles on arrival.

At 5.30pm last night we took the 1-1/2 hour sunset cruise coupled with the dining package at Dundee's Waterfront Restaurant total cost $90.00 We were welcomed aboard by friendly crew and received complimentary drink (beer, wine, ginger beer) plus a little platter of olives, cheese, biscuits and salami. Lots of landmarks etc. pointed out as we glided along passing numerous craft of all different shapes and sizes both in the inlet and moored along the banks.
Fortunate enough to spot a 4 metre crock on our return. Nice crowd on board, certainly room to move around and from side to side to capture those special moments with the camera.

We returned at 7pm and took the stroll a couple of hundred metres to Dundee's Waterfront Restaurant. Here we were greeted by lovely, friendly staff and we were NOT despatched to the inner sanctum of the restaurant, rather given seats outside. I can't emphasise enough that despite the fact we were not having the full dining experience at no time were we made to feel second rate or anything like that, completely the opposite actually.
We had a choice of the soup of the day, or Calamari strips (wife said they were lovely) or Seafood Chowder which I had an can attest to the fact it was delicious. Other choices offered were Caesar Salad or Aussie Connection which is skewered Kangaroo and Crocodile pieces served with special sauces.

For mains there are choices of Wild Barramundi, Chicken Breast pocketed with sundried tomatoes and avocado with creamy macadamia nut pesto (we both had this dish and it was moist, tender and flavoursome, beautifully cooked) Sirlion Steak, Linguini Cabonara or Pasta Ricotta Ravoli. Desserts were a choice between Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with strawberry coulis and almond biscotti or Marshmallow Pavlova.
Food and ambience of Dundee's is excellent, Staff friendly and efficient. Sit yourself down and enjoy the total package from the cruise through to dessert. We had a bottle of Two Hands Angels Share Shiraz $54.00 and it was superb - just another thing that made this a most enjoyable night and certainly value for your money.....all of that for $90.00 do yourself a favour - get on board!

Took the MV Crocodile Explorer for a cruise around Trinity Inlet at Cairns. Very good commentary and friendliness of the crew. however as it was high tide croc sightings would be rare as the sandbanks were covered. However we did see a croc and to their credit the crew maneuvered the boat to give us the best view. 2 decks with both inside and outside viewing. the upper deck gives great views. Spend some time in the creeks around Cairns which are very industrial before going further up Trinity Inlet and up into some of the creeks. Saw a lot of mangroves, but not a great deal of wildlife such as birds etc. Learn some history of Cairns and the region, Best to choose to go out when the tide is lower to get the best chance at croc spotting.

Exploring Cairns Harbour, Trinity Bay and mangroves on M.V Crocodile is an excellent way to while away two hours. The crew were friendly and their commentary was detailed and exhibited an excellent knowledge of the area.

My wife loved the detailed explanation about Cane Toads and the various wrecks in the area.

We were lucky to have perfect sunny and mild weather with only a few people on board so a superbly relaxing way to experience a different part of Cairns.

A must do while in Cairns.

Board one of the Trinity Bay scenic cruises to learn more of this historic and unique waterway, while enjoying sunset meal or a snack and relaxing beverage of your choice. A top buzz.
