My husband dined at Morgans last Monday evening on our way home from seeing friends of at the airport. We had had a busy week of birthday celebrations and decided to take our remaining guest to Morgans. All of our guests - all men - are excellent cooks (as good or better than many of the chefs in the so called 5 star restaurants in which we have dined) so, as we have dined there many times in the past and been happy with the food and service, we took our guest there at approx 5.30-6pm. We were the only guests in house at the time. The service we received from the friendly young Irish waitperson was very good. However the food was well below average. We had barely ordered when it appeared at the table. We all had the seafood sampler plate ( which I have often had in the past) - what a mistake! The mussels were cold and the topping was gluggy - and cold: like they had been left over from lunch. The fish was in square pieces - like they had come out of a frozen fish packet. Normally, I would have sent such a meal back, but because we had a guest with us, did not want to create any embarrassment. So, just ate it. We did tell the waitress that we were not happy with the food but there was no follow up from any one in authority.
We had a family picnic at Morgans Seafood takeaway on Saturday and had a wonderful day there. Again, this is our chosen family meeting place. The seafood is fresh and makes an affordable treat for family outings.
In view of the terrible meal we had in the restaurant on the Monday night, I fear it will be a long time before we return there. It was neither good food nor value for money.
