“Great food in a casual but fun place!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

Decided to walk to New Farm to look for an Indian place and this corner restaurant caught my eye. The decor is very unique and typical from Nepal and Tibet with dark yellows and reds. The waitresses were very friendly and nice and they also serve wine and beer or you can BYOW.
The food was very tasty and well presented. We had a very interesting and spicy appetizer to share. I had the vegetarian Sherpa platter and was wonderful. My husband had a chicken dish and also was very good. Really liked the food and will go back to try more!

“Interesting food but what a noisy space!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

I have been to the Himalayan Cafe a while ago and had an early dinner. Last week I went with a friend, the place was packed and I could not hear the sound of my own voice. The food is good, but the constant noise spoiled the experience.

“Casual and good atmosphere in New Farm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

Good value Tibetan / Himalayan food, with a lovely atmosphere. There are plenty of places to eat in New Farm and Fortitude Valley but this one is a favourite with locals too.

I went there last Wednesday night with a girlfriend for a casual dinner, and was pleasantly surprised. It was very busy (we had a booking) and a bit noisy at times, but the selection/quality of food and prices, and friendly service made it a fun night.

I had a prawn dish with coconut milk and flavourings (a little rich but yummy), and my friend had the vegetarian platter (which looked and tasted great). Will definitely go back again.

“Fantastic!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

With the huge array of resteraunts in Fortitude Valley / New Farm, it is very rare for me to eat somewhere twice.

Every time I go, I always get the sherpa chicken. It's fantastic!

My only con would be that it can get a little noisy.

“Want a delicious experience?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

Himalayan Cafe is far and above the most reasonably priced, authentic Tibetan/Himalayan food experience in Brisbane. From the delicious light and airy breads and dipping sauce, to the flavourful but not overpowering curries, the Himalayan Cafe offers fresh and healthy food in an authentic atmosphere. If you want something a bit different, book into the back toom where the red shag carpet awaits. My favourite by far.
