“Nice brekky but echos like crazy inside!”
Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

This is my third visit and I come back because of it rep and its good food. Can't knock the food even though its not in my mind in line with the cost. The biggest killer which is why I won't go back is that it echos like crazy inside. You need to yell across your table to be able to talk with someone. Outside is much better and a cool atmos.

“This place is usually good...”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

I have been here for a few times for lunch, and meals and service have been really good.

Dropped in on the weekend for breakfast with a friend... usual line out the front... no worries as I am prepared to wait for good (value) food / atmosphere / and service.

Although we did not get much of this good (value) food component. Two of us had a breakfast of something like oats / muesli with fig's, strawberry's, and sweet honey goats cheese which sounded good on the 'specials board'... wrong, tiny tiny portion of basic ingredients scattered over a dinner plate for a premium price. Meh! Minor complaint, but the wait staff said they could not swap the sweet goats cheese for yogurt for my pregnant wife (who cant eat goats cheese), as last time she asked the chef to do this "he got really mad at for making changes on a Sunday"!? WTF!? All the chef had to do is put a spoon in a different container while plating up the meal. The coffee was meh also...

Lucky the company was good, as was the atmosphere and service for the most part. But the food was not so great... wont be rushing back for breakfast.

“Eggs poached perfectly”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Just finished a breakfast of sautéed green veggies and organic Mt Cotton poached eggs at the Gunshop Cafe and can honestly say they were superb. Alongside the great food, the atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and lively with the "happening crowd" of Brisbane's West End art set.

It's easy to see why this cafe has won awards such as Brisbane's Best Breakfast and there will be more awards ahead for this place. The staff were attentive and friendly and despite being busy, wait times were minimal.

Come and see why this place is rated so highly - you won't be disappointed.

“Nice food, interesting setting”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Like restaurants around West End, the layouts are non conventional. Inside was full on the Sunday morning, and we sat at the back with gas heater keeping us warm. Service was good and fast, with great food.
