We had a lovely dinner by the Brisbane River for valentines day. The service is amazing and so is the food. Will be returning again and highly recommend to everyone we know.

fantastic feed and coffee. The sandwiches were awesome. The scenery outside was amazing. The service wasn't the most attentive I have ever had but that's probably reasonable since the food was all delivered at once to the table.

Having walked past the building many times I found the restaurant via the Qantas booking app., Dimmi. Outside dining with river/Story Bridge views, even better than venues on nearby Eagle Pier. Interesting menu, & wine list. Efficient, friendly staff, reasonably priced.
Got off to a bit of a rocky start, bread rolls were not warm or really fresh & the share plate of whitebait was not what we expected. More like a tempura with copious amount of aioli, could have been any fish, we like to see the actual fish. For mains Barramundi, ex WA, was perfect & steak was really rare & excellent with a glass of Penfolds 407. Sides of Truffled Kipfler potato was very moorish, also baby beet salad..
One dessert was shared & the French blue cheese, St Augur, was a good serve for $9 & worked well with truffled honey, sadly just a splodge & deserved more. All in all a most enjoyable meal, venue.

My partner and I came here for dinner on Valentine's Day. We were attended to quickly and each course came out at the right time without a long wait. The staff were very attentive and friendly. While nothing on the menu stood out to me as the dish I would eat, I was pleasantly suprised with my choices - the veggie and mozzarella tart with pesto was amazing, and the veal medallions with bernaise, crab, mashed potato and jus blew me away - seriously tasty! My partner and I both had the peanut butter icecream sandwich for dessert, which was nice, but the inclusion of strawberries (possibly tinned) was a bit of a let down for that dish.

Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience, both food- and view-wise, and I'd happily recommend it to others.

This was our first time at the customs house restaurant. We choose the location for our valentines day dinner.
The deal was to choose between three different starters, mains and dessert, for 90$/person excluding drinks etc.
It all started with a little complement of the chef, which was smoked salmon wrapped around cream cheese and a warm bun served with butter. Up to this point everything looked great for an exceptional dinner. (This appetizer remained the best part of the evening to come)

I started with crispy pork belly. It was not really crispy more soggy and pretty much served with beans and a sauce that tasted nothing different than a generic chilli con carne flavouring. My partner ordered druck breast prosciutto. The overall taste was ok, but the prosciutto was cut in thick slices/chunks which ruined this dish...in such a quality restaurant the chef should know to cut it very thin to complement the other element not to kill all of them with a large piece of salty meat which is not nice to chew on for a few minutes.
Well that was the entree, so we though, lets see what the mains will have to offer, still considering this place as an outstanding restaurant but with a price tag that will make your expectations rise higher than in a typical food court visit!

As main we ordered the roasted barramundi and the veal medallions. The fish was ok, obviously the grilling process burned it on the top which gave it a nice roasted flavour but also made it a little dry, which again is no problem when you serve it with a little bit of sauce! There were only dry white beans, and a tablespoon of avocado salsa, you can already get an idea of how dry overall this dish was, beside a fairly generic presentation. The veal was served nicely, the meat was well cooked and the overall taste of this dish was ok, but don't expect anything else than a proper pub like dish, no sophistication, just served with plane potato mesh, no tricks, that would have made this dish special, such as a little bit of fennel in the mesh to make thinks spice up etc. Overall this dish tasted good, but didn't tickle any of our surprise nerves nor got close to the quality food you can get in restaurants of the same category.

Even tough we were disappointed at that stage of the meal we gave the kitchen another chance to make us happy with a great dessert. We ordered the Valrhona chocolate fondant and the creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was excellent, overall very nice and tasty but the presentation was below the standards of such a restaurant, just a porcelain bowl, no colour of a mint leaf anything that would go beyond placing the plane dish right in front of you. The chocolate fondant...I don't have words for it, please safe your money and go to any other place like max brenner that will provide you with a great chocolate sensation for 10$.

Overall the visit of the customs house was a disappointment at least regarding the food experience. Both of us have no more than average expectations when it comes to food, but for a restaurant that claims to play in the top league with an outstanding price tag, I wonder how it can sustain itself in such a competitive environment. It might be the location itself, which undoubtedly is brilliant, so close to Brisbane River with a great view at the Story bridge.

We've learned our lesson and next time will use the 200+$ buy some extraordinary selection of food at the deli, grab a blanket and make a Champagne picnic looking over the Brisbane CBD.
