We have been to this restaurant about 5 or 6 times during the past 18 months. On each occassion the menu was different as was the wait staff. What is surprising is how consistantly good the food and service is each time. The menu has imaginative combinations of texture and flavour. Table settings are perfectly presented. The old Custom House building has a wonderful atmosphere. Better than anything is to be able to wander through the adjoining art gallery after dinner as a feast for your eyes.
Well done Custom House.

The reviews on Trip Advisor promised more than the restaurant delivered. It was nice to be seated outside on a balmy evening with the river as a backdrop. And the service was very pleasant and attentive without being overbearing. The one shortcoming was the quality of the food which was not really the star it should have been. The poussin was tasty but quite dry, while the veal certainly could have done without the crabmeat. Wine prices were very reasonable and the selection was quite extensive. Very good, but not brilliant.

The food at Customs House is up there in the fine dining category but they go a little overboard with the variety of flavours in each dish.
I had the salmon - which was perfectly cooked - but came with a tapenade which overpowered the fish and so was scraped off.
My partner had the veal with crab which again was over complicated.
The creme brulee however could not be faulted. Large enough for 2 to share - each spoonful is to die for.
Awesome views - situated on the waterfront and friendly staff. We got there just before closing and they were still patient and accommodating even though i'm sure they were keen to clean up and close.
Fine dining pricing but not extortionate.

We went here for our first dinner in Brisbane, what s treat!
The service was absolutely brilliant; friendly, efficient, really helpful.
Great olives, bread, oil/balsamic dip to start.
Fabulous flat head fish with a wonderful spicy coleslaw, mushrooms and beans. Divine flavours!
Excellent chocolate souffle, orange marmalade ice cream, served in a lovely dish made from chocste. Really clever.
The Brown Brothers Patricia 2006 was excellent. Leaving most champagnes in the shade!
Lovely ambience, busy but not frenetic.
Next to the river, with tables outside for eating or drinking on a fine day.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It set a very high standard for the rest of our stay in Australia!

Saturday dawned dreary and rainy as we set off for lunch at Customs House, Brisbane. Sitting outside under the awning was a great way to see the view, despite the rain. The service was incredible, thank you Melanie and Sophie, and the food - to die for. My entree of Pork Belly was like Christmas in my mouth, and the Veal Scallopini was tender and fabulously tasty - the tang of the sauce perfect. Then came the macaroons - mouth wateringly sweet. Thank you Brian and staff for an amazing day catching up with the girls.
