Augustine's is a true survivor in the mid budget range and represents good value for money.
The heritage building and ambience gives it a very special quality .
Augustine is very conscious of customer reaction and mingles well with patrons.
The new menu is good ,the wines are reasonably priced and the service is
good.

I recently spent a birthday dinner at Augustine's with some friends and had such a fantastic evening! The staff were very friendly and helpful and weren't obtrusive.. they helped us choose a fantastic wine to start off with and it kept flowing from that point on! The food was divine! Most of us had the lobster to start with which was amazing, and the the barra was also a popular choice which was a winner again. We were all too full for dessert but I really want to come back to try the white chocolate and chai brulee! Augustine even came out to chat with us to make sure we were all having a good time and to wish my friend a happy birthday. I've haven't seen service like that in years in Brisbane.

Definitely coming back again soon!! Thank you Augustine and team :)

We were not aware that a new chef had taken over and went along based on the recent reviews. The restaurant has a dated ambience. We ordered a fennel and orange salad - it had obviously been prepared and sitting in the fridge it arrived with no dressing - it required a a little oil and lemon juice. We left the majority of the salad. The main meals were reasonable. We ordered passionfruit souffles - the actual souffle did not contain any passionfruit flavour but had a passionfruit pulp on the side - the souffle arrived burnt and without cream or ice cream. We advised Augustine about the souffle and showed him the burnt top and he offered to not charge for the desert. We left feeling hungry and very disappointed.

This is probably one of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long long time.
My partner started with the scallops with the cauliflower purée and was delighted by the blend of flavours. I started with the lobster with Pumpkin and braised leeks, absolutely delicious and a good portion of beautifully cooked lobster too.
Annie choose the special of the day potatoe ravioli with goat cheese and commented that it was possibly the freshest pasta she had ever eaten. I choose the Confit duck leg and duck rillette served with braised carrots, Brussel sprouts and anchovy grissini, sensational !!! An absolute delight to eat. The meal was so enjoyable we continued with desert, not usual for us, but we just wanted to continue to enjoy this beautiful menu.
Annie choosing Baked red apple cheesecake with almond brittle and vanilla crumble and I the Mandarin soufflé with hazelnut and coffee sauce , we weren't disappointed.
Combined with a couple of glasses of very peasant Peppertree chardonnay 2011, for her and Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz 2005 375ml (half bottle) for me made for a very enjoyable evening of fine dining in the very fine restaurant. The young French waiter was excellent and deserved all of his tip.
A must dine experience in Brisbane , we will return !
