Oaks Festival Towers
Ranked #58 of 168 Hotels in Brisbane
Reviewed June 11, 2010

Oaks in Brisbane has many properties.. and all of them are located within walking distance of each other and thus score pretty high on the location front.. right in the heart of downtown brisbane, with all brisbane attractions within walking distance.. Oaks has to be your choicest bet whether you are in brisbane for business or vacation..

just like the other Oaks properties.. Oaks festival towers too is an apartment hotel with huge apartment rooms to boot for.. every apartment has a huge living area with huge size Plasma TV.. with plentiful of channels (a privilege in aussie hotels..!!!).. has a DVD player.. nice sofa set to relax and watch your fav DVD.. an alfresco dining area overlooking either the downtown or the lovely serpentine brisbane river..
also has a full fledged in house ktichen with all necessities viz dishwasher, fridge, overn et al.. in house washer/dryer are other facilities in house in your apartment..

the bath is also of a decent size and the bedroom is also pretty comfortable enough..

the property has a open air lovely swimming pool with a bar-b-q facility as well.. the pool balcony per se provides great views of the city.. in house gymasium and jacuzzi too..

one glitch though is the property doesnt have an in house restaturant/bar/cafe.. but there are great options within a minutes walk and some do accept to charge the bill on your room..

so all in all.. if you are in town for a slightly longer stay.. book on any of the Oaks properties.. and you will have the best of times in Brisbane.. njoooy..!!

We travelled for a long weekend break, this Apartment is 2 blocks from Queen Street mall, 15 minute walk to South Bank Area, Heaps of places to eat close by, with Irish pub across the road. Walk to Casino, close to train and bus depots. We had a one bedroom unit, bed very comfortable. Heaps of storage. Fully equiped Kitchen, washer and drier.
The apartment complex has 2 pools, spa, sauna, gym, BBQ well set up area.
Great place to stay, we will stay again.
Only 1 negative for us, we only got 1 key for room and lift access, which was a bit of a nuisance, only some units have 2 available. parking available at extra cost.

I stayed in the Oaks apartments in Sydney and twice in Briabane. The one in Brisbane has a perfect location and views. Walking distance to most places of interest. However the reception staff is not very helpful and stick too much to the "policy". Infact on one occasion they were out right rude with me since there were a number of guests they were attending to and all I was asking for was the key to my apartment.

myself and my colleagues were put up in individual apartments for 5 weeks for work commitments. when checking in, the receptionist was quite helpful and we were quickly able to head up to our respective apartments. that's about where the positives stop. when i disembarked on my floor i immediately noticed the smell- it was awful. i thought that perhaps one of the guests was cooking something exotic but as the days went by the smell got worse. when i entered my apartment i immediately noticed that it smelt like wet paint. upon close inspection of the walls i could see that a very uneven coat of paint had been recently applied. though the apartment appeared clean, upon further inspection i realised that it was actually quite filthy. the bathroom had a pungent odour wafting out of the drains and the tiles looked grimy. the cushions on the couch smelt of stale cigarette smoke and there were stains on the couch. my colleagues had very similar experiences, with one stating that he had stains on his sheets and that the kitchen benches were filthy. the company i work for have always used OAKS for business trips but i will be providing feedback to our accommodation manager to not book at Festival Towers again.

Yup, as per previous reviews the staff are pretty useless and totaly unfriendly. One wanders why they do the job if they are always in such crappy moods.
Other than that we had a great room on the 54th floor with views over the city and river. The apartment was roomy and clean (and didnt smell of smoke!). The apartment block is well located in the centre of the city near restaurants and an Irish pub across the road.
I would totally stay there again............now how can we get some friendly reception staff working there?

Difficult to find and park.
Odd reception staff- very unfriendly and bordering on downright rude.
Lobbies and elevators are in desperate need of a deep clean.
Room smelt of cigarette smoke, with ash on the floor and cigarette burns on the furniture (despite being a "non-smoking building").
BEST AVOIDED!

Location was good. Short walk to main shopping area. Small Vietnamese restaurant just across the road that serves nice food and very reasonably priced too. Nice Irish pub also just across the road. Nothing to shout about when it comes to the lobby of the Hotel. It was very bare and reception staffs weren't exactly your friendly type.
