“Fabulous location but ordinary room for a 5 star”
Reviewed September 8, 2011

Splurged on a 5 star for the night of 'Riverfire'. Had spent the previous night at the adjoining 4.5 star Citigate and was expecting a much more luxurious room at Sebel. Was disappointed in the decor of the room which was very dark and dated, however bed was very comfortable and no outside noise provided excellent sleep quality. The location of this hotel is as good as it gets if you want to be close to Queen Street Mall and Central Station but if you're looking for 5star luxury you'll probably be disappointed. The Sebel and Citigate King George Square undoubtedly offer one of the best locations in the CBD, the lobby and reception area are very inviting, and reception staff are courteous and helpful. Next time I visit Brisbane I'll book Citigate rather than Sebel as I don't think Sebel warrants the higher tariff.

Booked here for one night at the end of a business trip. If you are looking for luxury, then this is not the hotel for you. The rooms are small and tired and my room didn't have a bathtub. However if you want a great location, very close to Queen St Mall & Central Station you can't beat it. Bed was very comfortable and sleep quality excellent as I didn't hear any outside noise. Reception staff were accommodating when I requested to be shifted from the
interconnecting room I was allocated (I've had a past experience of being kept awake all night by people talking in the adjoining room). I will continue to stay here when in Brisbane as location and sleep quality are my number 1 priorities when booking accommodation.

Room Tip: Avoid interconnecting rooms if you're a light sleeper

I stayed this hotel many times because the corporate arrangement with this hotel. It is located in the centre of the city. very easy to access to all landmarks. I had really bad experience at this hotel before. staff was not interested to help and serve. It has been improved since my last stay. except one stay parking my car, all staff are friendly and helpful. particular the front counter staff and lobby cafe shop staff, very friendly and helpful. I did organised a morning wake up call at 6 am, but never happened. luckily i organised my mobile phone as back up. room is a bit dated and relatively small, bathroom need some work as well. bed is comfortable for a overnight sleep. my room was at a corner on 14th floor. It seems i have hear other people showering, it took me a while to go to sleep. even the service has been improved, I would not stay here if i have choice.

Room Tip: higher floor

Normally this is a great hotel, we have stayed here before. It is in a fantastic location, close to the mall and walking distance to the casino. It was just unfortunate we got Room 808 which was a room with only double beds and the beds had a huge bow in them, it was uncomfortable and we got no sleep due to the bed. I hope that this changes as the staff and cleanliness of this hotel is faultless. We mentioned this to the reception staff and were replied with an "oh "and that was that. I thought they would have been trained to handle a complaint like this with more than an "oh....."

Room Tip: Don't go into room 808

Excellent location in central Brisbane. Room facing inner courtyard was quieter than expected given location. Only ate with the breakfast in the moring; standard buffet breakfast seem to get at most4-5 star hotels now. Very reasonably priced for location.
