“Great convenient apartments”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Arrived at 9.30AM, friendly staff checked us in even though check in is at 2PM. Also recieved a free upgrade to a two bedroom apartments that was overlooking the botanical gardens. Very clean and had all the amenities. Sent an email early to confirm car space available so no problem with that. Close to the main shopping strip, cafes etc. Pillows were SO comfortable, no problem sleeping. The only negative thing about the hotel was the lift, it takes ages to get to you! Would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: We requested a high floor, never hurts to ask!

Location: adjacent to the City Botanical garden and Citycat pier, parking, really close to cafés, convenience stores, Avis and Budget, pharmacy, liquor store, Myer Center, Queen Street
15 minutes walk from Central Station early or late in the day, otherwise, the free Cityloop bus stop is 1 minute from hotel on Margaret (operates 7:00/18:00 except WE and public holidays)
Check-in: very efficient and helpful young man the day I came in
Room: cosy and very clean one-bedroom apartments, with full kitchen equipped for 4, roomy living room, separate area for the table/chairs for 4, large terrasse, excellent bedding and pillows, separate new washer and dryer, 2 TVs
Downside: the internet with surcharge once again, 20 AUD per 24 hours
Would I return? Absolutely yes

Room Tip: The City is very alive at night, but the soundproofing is good, no worries

Plusses- well located in centre of the city and close to plenty of amenities.
Minuses- booked through Wotif and no mention made of the need to book parking, one of my necessities. When we checked in at 2pm, the carpark was full and we had to use the one next door at a cost of 37$ not happy.
There was rubbish in the cupboard and fridge of out room, which was a bit gross, but the worst thing was on sunday morning at 9.50am when we tried to get the lift to the ground floor to check out, there was only one lift working, and so all the guests trying to get out of the hotel, plus the cleaning staff getting where they needed to be, were stranded, with the full lift passing them. We had to wait 20 to get in a lift ( with 3 heavy suitcases the stairs weren't feasible)
Plus when we eventually reached the ground floor, there was only one person dealing with a long queue of guests trying to check out.
Definitely NOT recommened.

We appreciate you taking the time to comment on your recent stay at Oaks 212 Margaret. It is disappointing to read of your experiences while staying with us. When booking on external websites, there are notes for all guests in regards to booking car parking spots. We apologise if this was not made clear upon booking. It appears on the day you may have checked out, one of our lifts broke down and required an external tradesperson to come out and fix the issue. The lift was out of operation for a couple of hours and we apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again soon.

This building would be the flag bearer for a average business orientated hotel. The furnishings are okay, fairly spacious room, clean, nice lap pool and BBQ area, small gym and decent views depending on which side of you are on. Nothing extraordinary here. Front desk attendants are helpful. In the four weeks I stayed, the issues that the TV didn't really work in the unit and the garburator was sporadic were brought up with no action taken. As others have noted the construction progress is slow and loud.

Room Tip: If you can, ask for a room on the south side of the building to avoid the noises from the never endi...

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at Oaks 212 Margaret. It is wonderful to read that you found your apartment spacious and clean and the hotel had nice facilities. We are pleased you found our staff helpful however I will pass your comment on that the maintenance issues in your apartment were not resolved. Brisbane city has a good deal of construction occurring within the CBD which does affect views from many of the apartments in our properties. On most cases though, there remains a view of the aspects of the city from the apartments, whether this be heritage buildings opposite, commercial buildings opposite, there are many facets to city views. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

We enjoyed our stay however the apartment was advertised with city views.
In actual fact we were facing a building sight!
From a small window in the bedroom, if we twisted our neck we could get a clips of the city. Also tthe blind would not go right up making the bedroom darker and we could not enjoy the beautiful Brisbane winter sunlight. However we were out most of the time and did not make a fuss.
It would have been nice to know that there is a free bus service from the train station to Margaret St.

Arrived - lovely apartment. HOWEVER woken at 6am with construction right outside my window. very loud - even on a saturday morning... not appreciated. Be careful as with the non-refundable internet prices you will not be able to move! Then they forgot to service my room on 1 of the 2 days. I tried to get some room service on one night at 9pm - the restaurant said they were open till late, didn't think this was too late - but they were closed already. No room service. overall very poor stay. do not recommend...

We appreciate you taking the time to comment on your recent stay at Oaks 212 Margaret. It is disappointing to read of the issues you experienced with the noise of the construction near our hotel. All construction workers have strict council guidelines to adhere to with start and stop work times and we apologise this impacted negatively on your stay. In regards to the restaurant, this is not owned by Oaks Hotels and Resorts however I will pass your comments onto the owners for their attention. We do hope you will choose to stay with Oaks Hotels and Resorts again soon.
