Owner description: The Brisbane River is perfect for adventure, leisure and recreation. Go kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or take a trip on a City Cat. Celebrate the Brisbane River at a Riverfire function or just have a picnic in the riverside parkland. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great vantage point to see the Brisbane River, or go rock climbing or abseiling with Riverlife Adventure Centre. Try Story Bridge Adventure climb, cycle, rollerblade or go for a jog. Dance with the local aboriginal tribe, Mirrabooka or visit South Bank. However you look at it you can't visit Brisbane without experiencing the River. Then cruise out to Tangalooma Island Resort for a must do experience. Enjoy!

Brisbane does the free ferry service very well. Other ferries are quite expensive as is Brisbane's public transport in general compared to other Australian Capital cities. Enjoy the river free on the red ferry. Please note that this ferry has different terminals to the general cat ferry service.

Brisbane river is best done with the local ferry (CityCat). It is amazing when you take the ferry at sunset. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the bright red and orange colour reflecting off the cloud as the sun is setting down. And make all the way to Riverside terminal to see Brisbane skyscrapers and the famous Story Bridge

Try to use the ferries and if you stay in the city you can walk just about everywhere. The river is well used here in Brisbane

The river in Brisbane provides lots of opportunities for a great day out, be it just taking a ride up and down the river on one of the CityCats, the Miramar or taking a short trip on the free City Hopper, but you can also take a great (2hr circuit) walk, starting your walk from Toowong's Regatta Hotel (or start anywhere for that matter), walk on a designated footpath with drinking fountains, all along the river past the city centre through the Botanic Gardens, then along Eagle Pier and maybe stop here at one of the cafes for a coffee, then cross the Story Bridge and meander back down to the river front and continue walking along the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, along Southbank or through the parklands themselves and past the Art Gallery (Goma), then continue on along towards the West End Ferry, once there, cross the river by ferry to the Regatta and get back into your car or keep on walking until you get back from where you started your walk. Lovely changing scenery, great walk!

This river is in desperate need of a massive clean up of rubbish, it is disgusting that a river that offers so much has been let down by the State of Queensland. Biribanites, get of you dairy sir and start a group which has pride in your city and get this eye sore cleaned up. For those who give us hell about the Hara (upside down river), look in your own back yard, everyone should look at the Swan River in Perth, it is beautiful.
