This used to be a very busy area...lots of birds. Now when I drive past it just looks sad...there are a lot of dead trees...it doesn't really look like a thriving swamp anymore...it's too open.

Looks like its getting smaller every time we are there. Its really a shame, because this must be the last wetland of Cleveland and surrounds.

There really isn't much to this. Park in Shore Street West near the bus stop and there's a path leading to a short (50m) boardwalk. Plenty of bench seating looking out into the bushland. Would be very peaceful but for the traffic noise from about 20m away. I could hear plenty of birds - at the right time of day you'd probably see them too. There's also a little viewing area off Queen Street (runs parallel to Shore St West) with seats too, but not looking out over anything there. Given that there's no paths this is a short visit for wetlands / birding enthusiasts only

The Black Swamp is so close to the heart of Cleveland in the City of Redlands on the shore of Moreton Bay. This part of the Black Swamp is what remains of the general area some 160 years ago. Amongst the wildlife here there are Koalas and numerous birds as well as lizards of all sizes. It is great to to this Eco sanctuary so close to human habitation, and still flourishing.

Has a couple of viewing areas and a board walk. Car parking on Shore Street beside this area. For environmental enthusiasts this might be a worthwhile visit.
