We stayed for 2 nights in a studio room. We paid $159 a night which included breakfast and valet parking.

Room
King bed which was 2 singles put together. The pillows were a bit soft. The room was clean though and had everything we needed. The bathroom was clean with nice toiletries provided.

Noise
If you are a light sleeper beware, this hotel is overlooking the train tracks and the trains are loud. Once i was asleep it was fine, but i'm a heavy sleeper. We had to shut the window and you can still hear the trains. Not a problem for me, but if you cant sleep with noise i'd suggest asking for a room on the other side of the hotel.

Location
The location is excellent in the middle of southbank. Short walk to "the beach" area. Walk over the bridge to the city. Lots of cafes, restaurants, entertainement and shopping close by.

Parking
We got parking included in our package. It was valet. When you arrive at Grey St there is a sign in front of the hotel saying to park there for the valet parking. Keep an eye out, we missed it the first time and had to go around the block.

Breakfast
It was a just ok buffet. Hot options were eggs, bacon (which was overcooked both days), hashbrowns, tomato, sausages and mushrooms. Then there was yoghurt, cereal and toast, and some pastries. I had the waffles once, they were stale. If it wasnt included i would not have returned the second day for it. If you are paying i'd suggest there are better options elsewhere.

Overall
Overall it was a good stay, the location is great, the room is fine but nothing special.
Would stay again.

After a few uninspiring stays at Oaks properties in the CBD, we thought we would give the Mantra at South Bank a crack. We weren't overly disappointed.

Paid $200/night for two nights and overall it was a good price for the location and the room. As we arrived late at night, we were checked-in within a minute by the friendly desk agent. The room was on Level 7.

Walked in the room to find a small kitchen and an island bar with bar stools. The lounge consisted of a couch, desk and a TV. The bedroom had a balcony (roughly 3m wide x 2m deep) and the bed was more or less comfortable for our short stay.

The bathroom had a laundry and a bath/shower combo (the bath was quite narrow but had OK depth). Bathroom amenities like shampoo and conditioner were provided and were acceptable.

The only negative thing is that there is no smoking allowed on the balcony. As my partner and I are smokers, we found the smoking restriction on our private balcony irritating at best.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel ($30) as we decided to go to a local cafe of which there are many in the general vicinity (and tended to be better quality).

Overall I'm happy we made the decision to stay here as it was a nice change of scene from the boring environs of the CBD.

Dear Haydensydney,

Great feedback about our hotel thank you!

Next time you stay with us, we suggest having our breakfast though! $30 may sound expensive however when you take into account that it includes every single thing you would like for breakfast plus your tea, hot chocolate or espresso coffee and you're so full you may not need to buy lunch - overall much less expensive!

Kind regards

Dear Lee H,

Thank you for your feedback. We are in a great location and more and more people staying in Brisbane are discovering South Bank is the best place to stay. We apologise about our pool. Unfortunately the recent storms caused some major damage and we had to close our pool area for repairs. All is good again now!

What a delightful 'find'! We escaped to Mantra Souhbank during the recent Brisbane storm /floods one night. My daughter and i were actually attending a show at QPAC theatre that afternoon . Complimentary umbrellas were offered and taxi ordered at door for us for a very short ride! Staff very helpful re weather conditions. Good sized hotel room with breakfast buffet package included - excellent price. Room overlooked rail line but train noise didn't affect sleepinng. Comfortable bed and other facilities.Location great for everything Southbank - wise. theatres/ gallery/museum /walks /transport / cafes. Definitely would stay again.

Room Tip: Corner rooms perhaps a bit larger.

The location is good is you are attending an event on south bank. The good - rooms are larger than hotel as it is suppose to bean apartment hotel. Pretty standard layout of bathroom to the right as you walk in and on the right there's the bar fridge & cabinet.

i stayed in a basic room and it has a large sink and a microwave, bench space with cooking implements, crockery so you can cook simple microwave meals. I was attending a conference, so I didn't bother but it might be a change if you travel a lot for business or have a family.

Rooms have windows that allow fresh air which I think is a bonus. As it faces the main road, there are lots of dining options which is why I wouldn't other ordering food from the hotel.

The breakfast is very ordinary for $25 with poached eggs floating in a Bain Marie, sausages, burnt Bacon( two days in a row) ,homemade baked beans ( I didn't try it so I cant say),various yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit and juices which taste like cheap bottled kind. They had fruit salad with slivers of lemongrass which I thought was novel.

I would suggest crossing the road 3-4 metres and going to one of the many cafes across the road.

Wifi is expensive, so take your own or go to the Brisbane exhibiting centre which has free wifi, you am get access even on the street and its only few blocks away.
TV has usual free to air channels , couple of sports, and news channel as well as movies ( extra cost). There arced and DVD a layers on the room so you could take your own entertainment. Good power outlets to recharge various devices.

Housekeeping needs work. It was inconsistent with no shampoo and conditioner one day (which the hotel provided promptly when I called housekeeping) , bizarrely I found a top of men's used shaver on the sink (weird and a worry since it wasn't there on the first day). The curtain was disgusting - I may attach a photo, dust in lots of places and I found my paper on the floor couple of times.

Room service charges extra $3 to deliver your food, there is an extra 15% on public holidays and weekends etc.Again, food was ordinary. I ordered a steak and it was overlooked, really , really tough with sinews and they served it with tiny jar of beer berg mayonnaise which was nearly a year old! ( why bother? The mayonnaise was inedible and really doesn't add when it has an expiry date on march 2013 and its end of January 2013!) there was tiny jar of tomato sauce which was equally dodgy. All for $38 each !
My colleagues had better meals across the road and at rydges.

Gym - adequate with two treadmills which you can plug iPod but no tv, two cycles, an elliptical machine as well as three weight machines. A two lane lap pool and a spa. The conceirge provides running maps which is infinitely a better choice as there is the Brisbane river loop with lovely flowering trees etc.

Entertainment is good if you like museums, art galleries, ballet and shows. The cafes in the art gallery and even near the state library or across the road near the college are all superior to the hotel.

There service ranged from enthusiastic greeting to petulant , begrudging - especially at the restaurant when I dared to go 5 minutes earlier than opening time and was told that it wasn't open and that I should come back later- said in the tone of communist service which reminded me of travelling I china or Russia.

So function, location, entertainment good but don't expect much in the way of service and you will find it ok.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors away from lifts if you want quiet and make sure that the reception understands...

I stayed in a hotel room on a b&b package. The hotel rm had a great view, comfortable king size bed & standard bathroom. The room size was as expected for a hotel rm, it didn't really have a spot to eat when I ordered rm service other than the small desk/television stand. Mini bar is well stocked with a range of snacks - a lot more than your average hotel. Price wise everything is pretty reasonable & as expected. The breakfast was a highlight though. The full buffet has a good spread of freshly cooked, cut & well presented items. Eggs, omelette a etc can be made to order & my omelette was really nice. In every section from cereals, fruits, pastries, juices there was at least one item which was above & beyond what you'd normally expect from a buffet breakfast. Coffee was the only let down, the automated machine could do with being updated & soy milk offered. It wasn't crowded & as it did start to het a little busier, the staff were quick to restock everything so there was always a full selection. I'd return here just for breakfasts.

Its not only the Location Location Location because the Mantra Southbank is situated just across the road from all the great eateries and down the road from QPAC where all the TOP shows are held! The Accommodation is very comfortable, you are greeted by the staff with a smile and a 'fairdinkum' Hello!

The staff treat you well and they also have a great bar/restaurant too. The Mantra is one of the main places I try to stay at when I am in Brisbane over night or for the weekend!
