Easily accessed by foot crossing from the main area of the city, or easy parking nearby.
GOMA features a wonderful array of artwork, plus many fantastic displays from around the world.
Reasonable entry fee, plus good cafe for coffee and snacks.

We have visited GOMA many times since it opened and have never failed to be impressed by the quality of the exhibitions and other events that have been on. A few weeks ago we saw the wonderful Cai Guo-Qiang 'Falling Back to Earth' exhibition. The installation called 'Heritage' with the various animals drinking from the huge tranquil pool was incredible. It evoked such a peaceful feeling. The installation in the other room called 'Head On' with the wolves running into a glass wall was more challenging but another very interesting and thought-provoking exhibit.

Major exhibitions at GOMA always have a children's area where they can draw pictures or make things so it's a great place to bring the whole family.

We also enjoy having morning tea or lunch at the GOMA café on the river bank. The setting is very relaxed with a wonderful view of the city and river. You can also see the intriguing sculpture of an upside down elephant in the grounds nearby. The food and drinks are always good also.

I generally hate art galleries so was not keen to be dragged along with the family to GOMA. What a surprise it turned out to be - it was exciting, invigorating and engaging. The crowd is predominantly young and the atmosphere electric. We will be going back regularly now as the kids (and me!) love it.

The Gallery is housed in an award winning building situated in the Museum/Art Gallery precinct of Southbank, right on the banks of the Brisbane River.
The Gallery houses some excellent permanent exhibitions, and is also home to many varied wonderful and sometimes challenging exhibitions. The current Cai Guo-Qiang Falling Back to Earth is a magnificent example of the exhibition programmes.
A fee is paid for visiting exhibitions, whilst the resat of the gallery is free to peruse in leisure.
The gallery houses a delightful gift shop, and several excellent venues to eat in.
A wonderful place to take visitors, and a must for the lucky Brisbane residents.
Adjacent to the Gallery, are the State Library;Art Gallery of Queensland and the Queensland Museum. All wonderful places to spend many hours.
