Owner description: The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery.

It's a big gallery. We visited the special APT7 and also Ian Fairweather exhibitions - they were both great. Highly recommended!

Wonderful to visit even if you are not enthused about art. The building is beautiful. Easy walk from the city. Food and drinks all available.
Lots to see and do at Southbank.

GoMA is awesome. I love it. Firstly, it's generally free to wander around, which is great when its 35 degrees in summer and you're dying.

Secondly, it always has interesting stuff going on. Yeah yeah, we've all seen your Lame as 1800's art work.. woooppdddee. Guess what GoMA has?? AN ELEPHANT STATUE ON IT'S SIDE RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR. Boom!

Thirdly, GoMA Up Late. A few times a year they open the place up on a Friday night, get a bar and a bunch of musicians and let the masses in. It's like a party for grown ups!

Finally, GoMA kids. They have little explanations of pieces of art especially worded for kids and dumb girlfriends. They also have a special area where kids and immature adults can interact and do their own art. I made a kangaroo mask, it was sweet.

If you're visiting Brisbane and you're sick of the 1000000 pubs in the town, come to GoMA, get classy. You'll love it.

I have to admit to being a regular visitor to the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane - it's one of my favourite haunts when I have a day off.

I love the layout, which is easy to find your way around and not overly taxing on the legs and feet. The exhibitions change regularly, and the curators are enthusiastic and keen.

Brisbane has long been regarded as a cultural void on the Australian landscape, however GoMA is doing an absolutely marvelous job at trying to rectify this perception by acquiring big name exhibits (my favourite in the past 6 years was the Andy Warhol exhibit, although this competes with the Yayoi Kusama exhibit for hands-on fun) to get people in through the door.

I cannot recommend this place enough - I've taken everyone from my mother-in-law and grandmother (both from a small country town) to my son who is intellectually disabled and all have found pleasure and enjoyment in the confines of the Gallery.

Located on Southbank, there is a lot to compete with for your attention once you're outside - well worth a visit to the area.
