This building in the midst of Brisbane city's botantic gardens really captivated me. The video in the foyer was particularly well prepared & offered interesting insights to life in the House from past generations - esp regarding servant/master relationships. The house itself is beautifully restored, and while they could have thrown in many 'randomly collected relics' from past (as many old houses do) they have instead decided to leave most rooms empty of old clutter. (It is still used for private fundtions, etc.) Upstairs is a quirky permanent display of farm-scene artworks - fun for young & old alike. All for free! I must have spent nearly 2 hours browsing and also checking out the 'interactive online tour'. It was actually a highlight of my trip to Brisbane. There's a decent-looking cafe on site as well.
