We stayed four nights at the beginning of our holiday and as this hotel was booked through our travel agent we were not sure what to expect. The location was great, close to the busy city centre but far enough away to be quiet. Right next to the lovely Roma Street Park and a short walk to the train station. Be aware the hotel is up a hill.... you may wish to walk down and taxi back up but there is an excellent bus service right by the hotel. The front desk staff were VERY helpful, polite and obliging
The room was beginning to look a little shabby but the twin queen size beds were very comfortable. The view over the Parklands was lovely. There was a wee balcony and good soundproofing! The blackout curtains were great, I wish every hotel had these. Unfortunately the eco lighting was very dim, difficult to find somewhere to sit with light good enough to read. There was a huge wardrobe but the bathroom was quite small. The door opened hard against the toilet which proved a little difficult until one got used to it! Nice products in the bathroom and lovely fluffy towels. The room had all one could require and was quiet, comfortable and clean although a little dusty in places. Breakfast was a bit expensive but very nice with a good selection (let down only by the worst cup of mass produced tea I think I have EVER had!) There are also several restaurants in the local area.
A negative was the very strong smell of cigarette smoke wafting into the lobby from the outdoor courtyard area which was full of smokers. This meant the Lobby and Courtyard were not nice places to sit and relax and the pool environment wasn't really "people friendly" either. The Spa pool was freezing! Despite the few negatives (which could so easily be fixed) we did enjoy our stay and would reccomend and return.

I had no problems with this hotel. Pleasant room with lovely view and within walking distance to shops. The breakfast was horrendously expensive - there didn't seem to be a difference in price from full buffet or continental - if so, I was charged the full. The staff member who dealt with me mumbled a lot so I couldn't understand what she was saying.

Hell on earth. This place is just awful. I've never met a lazier, ruder bunch of staff that seem to go out of their way to be UNhelpful. At over $500 per night because of Statd if Origin for a tiny, crappy so- called 'superior' room, it's plain robbery. There was a shrieking metal on metal noise from 1 -2 am that kept me awake - I complained - no explanation. After charging to my room one day, the next I'm told it's cash only. Key stops working - apparently my fault. Two keys. Dirty linen. Poor cleaning. Dodgy lift. Dirty, smelly and seriously tired. Should be sued for claiming 4 star status - a joke.

Dear KathrynJL,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your recent stay with us.

I was very disappointed to read this review as I do not think it represents a fair description of the Hotel, or our friendly and helpful staff. The room you stayed in has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. We make every effort to ensure that we are always providing the best service to our guests. I apologise that you experienced a noise issue during your stay but unfortunately without further information we are unable to identify the cause. We did not receive any other complaints of this nature. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to welcome you back to the hotel should you wish to stay with us again.

Once again, thank you for your feedback,

I selected this hotel because its proximity to Lang Park and the 15 minute walk to the stadium, past the Roma St parklands, was quite a relaxing way to go to the game. We were also able to walk back to the hotel after the game which was great because the taxi line was enormous.
The hotel was a very pleasant place to stay with the staff very attentive and welcoming. The room was a good size for us with a balcony (which is a nice change) that overlooked the parklands and we could see Lang park off in the distance. The bathroom, while not the most modern one I have seen, was adequate for our purpose. The hotel is a 10 minute walk out of the CBD and did not have a city hotel feel about it. It had a very open airy feel and not cluttered with buildings all around. Access in and out was very easy.
We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the evening meal in the restaurant was exceptionally good and the buffet breakfast was very well presented and certainly not as boring as some I have experienced.

Overall a good experience and one I would repeat again
