Description: ABOUT AQUITAINE BRASSERIE Inspired by L'Aquitaine in South West France, this river side dining experience brings together a journey from the Farm House to the Champs Elysees. The contemporary French menu is based on classic French recipes and is brought to life with fresh local produce and modern cooking techniques. Our Head Chef Sam Lonsdale has created a perfectly balanced menu that will appeal to all discerning diners. The wine list intrigues with the positioning of French and local wines together in a regional styles, categorised by palate characteristics rather than varietals. The cocktail list and spirit selection has a real French influence, while Aquitaine maintains an agreement to see direct importing of French produced Kronenbourg draft beer. Aquitaine sits between Popolo Italian Kitchen and Stokehouse Q at River Quay, South Bank, Brisbane and ads a real touch of French class to this thriving riviera.

We booked a table for lunch on Melbourne Cup Day and throughly enjoyed our meal. There was a 4 course set menu on the day at $80 per person plus drinks.

The food came out at a leisurely pace which suited our plans to gossip and catch up over lunch. To food was beautifully prepared and presented.

There restaurant is next to the river and we enjoyed dining in the shady outdoor area which had a refreshing cool breeze.

Although we were seating promptly the service ended there. Long wait even for a drink and starters. Our meals took over an hour to come out, and although it was not busy and there were 4 wait staff no one checked to see if we wanted more drinks and we had to ask them to check on our order. The food was not worth the wait despite two diners having chosen the special dish of the day. Once we had mentioned the delay one staff member did apologise and offer "free coffee if we would be ordering dessert". By that time we had had enough. There are lots of places to choose from on the boardwalk at Southbank my advice is Choose Another!!!

Nice location, especially at night. The decor was modern, open and comfortable. The service was good. But the food was very ordinary. There were few vegetarian options, and no vegan. Menu did not cater to allergies either. Ultimately this was overpriced for what one got.

Five girlfriends and I went on a busy Saturday night. Waited 45min from ordering our mains to receiving our food and the size left us still hungry and the price left us more disappointed.
Two small breads to share, one main each and only 4 drinks = $250

Menu - 6 or so of each appetisers, entrée, mains, sides and desserts to pick from. With French inspired dishes that I have personally seen on some menus in France.

The prices and portion size however is the problem. For the dish size you get it is not worth the price.

My main was $34 and it was very small - two small pieces of duck less then an inch thick and 1/4 of an artichoke. The quality is good, produce is nice but nothing special and not on price point even fro Brisbane. I understand they want you to order the sides, as no real vegetables or salad with main.

Beverage list is large with a nice choice of wines and other drinks
Their ginger mint mock-tail is great.
Once again not cheap, one price point for area.

The staff are genuine, give good services and know their stuff. Even apologetic for our 45min wait for food.

Decor is great. nice raw woods with a mix of colour tiles, material cushions on the benches. The restaurant is surrounded by tress and flower bushes also so a nice feel along with great views of the Brisbane river and Southbank in general.

Seating is a mix of bench, tables and bar seating (inside). Seating is also tight and if you are back to back to another table it is hard for the wait staff to get through and hear your own table talk. But I understand they have to pack the guests in.

I get what they are trying to do and making the guests pay for the Southbank views, rent and atmosphere. But I'm sure if they made the mains slightly bigger or ratio to price they would get more guest coming back more often for the quality rather than once for the experience.

we discoverd Aquitaine with friends who invites us for diner. The food was excellent, the service too, and the wine perfect. All very well priced for a great location. We then came back with some other friends, without a booking a were sitted upstairs in the mezzanine. Beautiful, table, chairs. we chose some appetizers to share, absolutely delicious, the assorted charcuterie is to die for. My wine was one of the best pinot gris i've tasted and i love my pinot gris. The main meal was also perfect and the assorted petit four is a must have. The waitresse was lovely. we will definitively go there again.
