“Middle Eastern menu was smashing!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

This restaurant is not easy to find if you are not from the area. It is down an arcade and you need to look out for the symbol/logo of the restaurant, rather than the name.

Once there, it was a great evening. I was there with a girlfriend, and all we wanted to do was chat. The waiter was very patient with us (it is sometimes hard to interrupt us to get an order in) and developed a great rapport with both of us. Our waiter was very helpful with describing dishes, and whilst was keen to recommend some meal items to us, we were happy to share other dishes. Our waiter was keen for us to try the Slow-roasted full-blood wagyu brisket, however we decided against it on this occasion.

If you have food intolerances, then it is important to let them know as most of the meals contain dairy (yoghurt) and gluten.

We enjoyed the Confit of Goat (yummy!), whole smoked eggplant (really really delicious!!), duck breast and Fried cauliflower. I have to say the "Fried cauliflower, currants, smoked almonds and ras el hanout" was one of the stand out dishes! If you don't like cauliflower, then this dish may convert you... it was amazing.

The wine list was quite impressive, and our wonderful waiter allowed us to try some different wines before ordering... something I appreciate at a restaurant.

The presentation of the meals was great, and all the meals are designed for sharing so you need to be mindful. We ordered 4 dishes and we were bursting by the end of the meal with no room for dessert. For those who may have daily intolerance, unfortunately all of the deserts contained dairy - however I am sure if you booked ahead they could adapt something for you.

I will be back - this restaurant had a great atmosphere and is good for groups as well as couples.

“Adventurous Menu with Middle Eastern theme”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Fabulous restaurant with excellent surroundings and wonderful menu. Such a fun place to eat with a relaxed feeling with superb atmosphere. The menu is adventurous and such a wide variety of dishes intended for sharing. Such artistic dishes with authentic flavours. My favourites are slow braised lamb breast, slow roasted full blood wagyu brisket, free range duck breast with smoked new potatoes, slow roasted heirloom carrots and fried cauliflower. Full compliments to the chef and the staff, excellent service. Don't forget to book as they are always booked out.

“Unimpressed!”

THIS IS FOR THE BAR OUT THE BACK AS IT HAS NO NAME NOT THE RESTURANT. These guys have just opened a Bar to the rear of the restaurant which (its self) is nicely placed in the colonnade. The Bar and Outdoor seating area is in the car park over looking back-of-house garbage bins!. The internal bar which has no name but associated with the restaurant (same owners) is dark and uninspiring minimalist gone wrong. 1 Toilet which is unisex (not good!) The Wine average, the Staff (whilst new) are more important than the Patrons. and if you which have dropping Jacaranda leafs and pods in your drink sit outside in the car park facing the garbage b around the tree.

“Fabulous food!”

I went to Gerard's last night with a large party and had a delightful evening. The menu is full of interesting choices designed for sharing and having built up our expectations of this restaurant we were not disappointed. The flavours were divine and the range of choices more than adequate. Surprisingly, one of the highlights of the evening was a cauliflower dish! There was a slight hiccup with the order but it was soon addressed and ultimately we were more than satisfied. I would certainly recommend this restaurant; just be aware that you could walk straight past without noticing it so keep your eyes peeled.
