Description: Awarded Brisbane Times Restaurant of the Year for 2014/15, Gerard's Bistro is a critic favourite, located among James Street's stylish restaurant and retail offerings. Diners' taste buds are taken on a journey across the Middle East with Head Chef, Ben Williamson's Levantine inspired share plates. Visited recently almost by mistake (was looking for a more casual cafe to take a work colleague to lunch). Was happy to try something a little more adventurous and was very happy to we did. The food was exceptional in quality and taste. Best dish the eggplant, not sure what was done to it, except some sort of yoghurt sauce. Also had quail, lamb and another veg side. All were just as good. Presentation and attention to detail in plating the dishes was first rate. Highly recommend this restaurant for any meal. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. I was impressed when the chef came out with our main dishes to explain them. Will definitely be back next time I visit Brisbane.

Joined some great friends for a long anticipated sunday lunch yesterday - had eaten there before so knew to expect some of the best food available - anywhere !

The food did not disappoint - it is sublime , clever , authentic and memorable. Could not be bettered in any way

Sadly service was not to the same standard - it actually started quite acceptably but during the afternoon diminished to a poor standard that is in complete conflict with the quality of the food . I understand that the restaurant is owned by the chef - you can tell this by the amazing attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the food. It is just sad to see that the front of house could not mirror this as its deserves much much better.

Gerard's Bistro is based around gorgeous small share plates with many choices. The staff were attentive and friendly and very helpful with our questions about each course. Everything we ordered was delicious and our only regret was that as there were only two of us, we couldn't try everything. Perfect venue for a long, leisurely lunch and they also had my favourite chardonnay on the wine list. We will be back.

While the food was lovely the service was adverage. Wine was extremely expensive compared to comparable resturants nearby. We also paid $20 for cocktails. Biggest issue however was the group booking 3 people didn't show from a extremely large party however we still had to pay thr $45 per head ... Really not happy with that. They told us the food was supplied for the full number however there was only just enough for the people there. Quite disappointing. Also our group was spilt into 2 tables made that difficult to talk
