Great location, short walk uphill from Central Station. Also walking distance to the Valley to check out the night life. There is a free Spring Hill bus loop that stops across the road (coming from CBD) which helps to cover more distance without having to pay for PT. Rooms are small and basic, but to be expected in a BnB style place. Bathroom was always clean, but no obvious way to tell if they are in use or not other than trying the door. The art-deco style of the exterior definitely stands out, you cannot miss the place walking past. The interior decorations are then a step back even further. It is like staying at your grandparents place in a way (or great grandparents depending how old you are).

Only stay for a night but was very surprised by the hospitality and helpfulness of the staff, especially Mark and Julie. The place was managed by 3 pair of retired couples whom rotate to look after the place. Breakfast was simple, just toast and coffee/tea/orange juice. However, they offered extra serving of toast, if required. The common toilets are cleaned and well maintained. As my flight out of the city was a night flight, they offered safe keeping of my luggage while I roam the city in the afternoon. They also offered me a towel and soap to take a shower before my departure to the airport. In addition, the internet access is A$5 a day and it's unlimited access. The location is just 500m from Queens Street and 1.2km from Chinatown. And about 5 minute walks to the Brisbane Central Station.

Room Tip: If u have a large luggage, advice to get ground level as the stairway to 2nd level is narrow and the...

A very friendly welcome by one of the two couples that run the place. The rooms and shared bathrooms were pleasantly clean. I don't care for floral bedspreads, I personally think these should be updated. This place is not close to any shops if you need a quick snack or something for dinner.
The free breakfast - mmm I still think Aussies have a long way to go before they do decent breakfasts! Cheap cereal, one choice of milk and orange juice and toast.

All up not bad value for the price.

This is a very well located budget hotel that has great service because of the extremely helpful staff. The rooms are small but the beds are comfy and the shared showers are no problem. Despite the hotel being full - there was never any conflict for the bathrooms.

The common area is useful - tea/coffee/TV, internet and always interesting guests to chat with. The area is near an upscale shopping centre - grocery and bottle (wine) stores, the central station and good restaurants. This part of Brisbane is elegant and despite the pouring rain I think this is a great area to explore.

If you are not bothered by common bathrooms and small-ish rooms, but value personal touch and friendly staff you will love it here. Plus the location.
It was a perfect place to recover from massive jetlag...
Just be careful breakfast finishes quite early.

Mark's welcome was inimitable, we'd just arrived from Singapore and it was 9am well before check-in, we were offered a tower and shower, and a place to store our bags until our room became available. Was well impressed on first impressions. Beds are comfortable, place is clean, has facility to wash clothes, has cheap WiFi, breakfast is simple so be prepared for that. Good location 5 min walk from central station up the hill (keep in mind if you have heavy bags). Was full so that reflects the value for money you get here. shower temperatures do fluctuate so be warned! Would recommend bring your own fruit eg banana to add to cereal. Oh and can be noisy so bring earplugs.

this place was so sweet, it's like having my own bedroom. it's very clean and close to everything, the staff were friendly and easy going, and the accomodation came with a little breakfast of toasts and spreads and cereals.
