“Poor value for money”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

If a good nights sleep is not top of your priorities, then this is the place to stay. The rooms are extremely noisy, every sound made in surrounding rooms thunders through the building (and I mean every sound). I stayed for one night in a double suite whilst visiting a friend in the Royal Brisbane Hospital and one night was more than enough. Room had a damp smell, shower was disgusting, there was a dirty stain on the bedding, staff were unfriendly and abrupt, the list goes on. Overall it was not a pleasant experience, I'd recommend forking out a bit extra and upgrading to a nicer motel, this is not good value for money.

A great long stay (16 days). The room was spacious and always looked after. The friendly staff provided an excellent service making you feel at home away from home. It is located in a central area where everything is easily accessible. Would thoroughly recommend City Palms Motel. Up in Brisbane twice a year, wouldn't stay anywhere else...

Stayed for 2 nights in Loftroom, double bed and 2 singles upstairs in a lovely loft with round windows on 3 sides, all tiled lower level meant bed on castors rolled around on us, stayed put after we chocked the wheels with newspaper, great air-con,clean linen, reasonabily clean,we had a pleasant stay,5 min walk to RNA showground was handy as we were attending a function there,5 min other way walk to Fortitude Valley train station and Foodworks shop.
Helpful lady at frontdesk, would stay again if we had to.

This was booked online and an unknown motel. The linen was clean, the self contained kitchen was 2 doggy hotplates and a microwave oven. Kitchen cupboard doors were miss matched and the room smelt like smoke all the time. Every time someone on the upper level walked or moved we felt the whole wall that faced the hallway shake. Secure parking was behind a roller door and although a tight parking area was secure. The appearance from the front of the motel should have told us what we should expect. The crockery and glasses had to be washed before we could use them. Overall not happy visitors.

The proximity to the fortitude valley and the low price rooms especially the Triple studio rooms are big enough to house 3-4 people easily. This is the best place for staying if on a budget and you want to be as close as possible to the clubbing life. Highly recommended for couples and young travellers and backpackers. We stayed here for 2 nights and the parking was pretty secure & convenient, although it was paid for.

Room Tip: Pick a triple studio. Its large enough for 4 people.

Directly on the street, 25 min walk to Queensroad. 6 parkingspaces in front of the Hotel, more in the back (15$pd). Our room had 1 queen, 1 regular bed, though we were only two persons. A/C remote was broken, you have to climb to turn it off. The room was dusty, only one fork, one small pot, one tiny pan in the dirty cupboard. The bathroom was so small that we were not able to stand inside at the same time. There was no soap, no shelf, nothing to put stuff on- not even a toothbrush. Toilett seamed clean, enough toiletpaper, in the shower layed a shaver from the guest befor us- uähhhhh! During the second night the people over us were extreamly noisy, but the reception was closes and there was no one to call. We had to listen to their "game" untill 3 am before we could get back to sleep. It´s rather cheap to stay there, but we did not feel comfortable and will not come again.

The longest 3 nights I have ever spent at a hotel. Double bed was very unconfortable and kept on sliding on the tiles every time one of us moved. Room was shabby. Bathroom had mould and peeling paint. Bath mat was a dirty towel folded in half. This was supposed to be their DELUXE room! Only plus was the price of $95 and a little kitchen with stovetop and microwave. Every night there were people partying on the verandahs and out making noise on the patio until the early hours of the morning so the rest of us (who were there for work) could not sleep.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a good room. The front is on a busy road and the back you get all the no...
